I would like to see what would happen, there was no offer and acceptance of a price if you order a beer with no price tag...

they'll say you are refusing to pay your bill and call the police, or threaten you and kick you out. that is what would happen... your acceptance of a price is drinking the beer, even if you don't know the cost.

As much as people want to argue that "truth" we all know it isn't true. The absence of price does not make something free.

I agree I hate bars that don't post the price of drinks. ones that usually do it are the places that jack up the prices.

what would you think is an "unreasonable" markup? 200%? 300%? If they don't want to post prices there might be another issue other than what you might think.

Sunday night I was at a bar in a restaurant that did not have prices on their beer list. First time I experienced this. Felt funny asking for prices - not sure why.

I'm amazed that there are people that will agree to a purchase of anything without knowing the price.

I'd hope to see prices on any place with a menu, not sure why you would make a menu and not bother to put the price.

If there's a beer that I absolutely, no question, want to try on the menu and there's no price, I'm still going to order it (given that I'm paying for the bill).

I do understand that they can charge $500 for a 10oz pour and I'm legally responsible for it, but if that's how they do business then I don't think it's a restaurant I'd be dining at :stuck_out_tongue:

I hear ya OP....this annoying if it is beer or food. The idea that you should just order without knowing a price is ridiculous. All prices should be clearly marked and advertised IMO

Just got hit with an example of no price listed at a beer bar in Berkeley today. It was hotter than Dante's Inferno, so I thought a nice Berliner would be refreshing and get me primed for a few other beers. The bartender causally dropped off the check while I was talking and was stunned to find a $10 charge. Now if my order used some exotic barrel, rare ingredient(s), need time to age or had to deal with unpredictable wild yeast, sure a mark-up I suppose is inevitable. But, a simple kettle-soured wheat from some lacto bacteria - wtf?

To a bar who does this...or any other establishment. Order the cheapest biggest glass of beer take a tiny sip ..then...knock the glass over and spill it say oops sorry,,,re order and repeat. I have been kicked out of worse yelling and screaming after 5 sips.

In my experience, unless it's a brewery or place that specializes in craft beer, the prices usually aren't listed and if they are it doesn't specify how much you are getting. More often than not, it's a cheater pint glass and I'm getting charged $7-8 for some mediocre local IPA.
