It's a joke! Lighten up, its good natured sportsball banter. This is after all, the state where bros chant about the greatest franchise MLB history sucking at any public gathering, regardless of relevance or propiety.

This seems absurd. No? I am a fan of the Patriots, but why would I allow that to dictate what beers I can or can not drink? Sports Soap Operas ruin everything. I can guarantee if there was a knock against you on the bottom of any can of anything not a single Patriot would boycott the product because of it.

Well my name is Sean White - maybe some Patriots are snowboarding fans and would be offended!

I know I am in the minority and that is fine, just my choice to patronize breweries that don't insult a team I root for.

I think you completely missed the point of my post. First of all, it is not about me taking a joke - the joke has nothing to do with me and I don't really give a damn. My question was really a broader one about whether it is smart for a national brand to engage in this kind of activity and lose sight of their marketing efforts. Sun King can lob a joke at the pats expense and no one cares because they don't sell here. Blue Hills can lob one back and its the same thing - they don't sell in Indy. Oskar Blues needs to sell both places. While I don't care, and you evidently don't care, there are plenty of sports fanatics that would. Just wonder what OB stands to gain.

As far as people being jealous about my beer fridge, I suspect 95% of the folks on this forum have far more treasures in their fridge than I do. My point was it is a ridiculous assertion that losing OB IPA from my life was going to be a huge loss to me. That's a joke with so many other great beers out there. But I suspect seanwhite is correct that you are just trolling and looking to stir the pot.

I dunno maybe a craft brewery wants to have some fun and not making everything a bloodless, corporate-minded, marketing-driven, "what do we have to gain" type of decision. Shame on them for that, I guess...

It's fun, people. Sportsball is fun. If you're taking it so seriously that you won't buy OB because they made a joke at your favorite team's expense, I mean, that just seems like a miserable, joyless existence to me.

Supporting cheaters over quality brewers? Sounds about right.

Or.... perhaps me not drinking Oskar Blues IPA is just "sportsball". Harmless fun at their expense. Believe me, my existence is quite joyful... :-)

I'll also be the guy that says "lighten up" if you get offended by this.

Also I think there is more comraderie in the craft beer scene than you may think. My guess is that guys from Sun King & OB have been together at say a CBC or GABF and maybe they swapped football jokes at each other's expense when Indy played Denver in the AFC semi-final round....maybe this was the two coming together against a different opponent...?

If somebody is an OB fan and a Patriots fan, I wouldn't think they are that likely to stop buying because of this. However, if somebody is a Patriot hater but a BMC drinker, I could see them hearing about this and picking up some OB for a tailgate or something because they think it's funny.

Also, nationally, there are more Patriot haters than Patriot fans, so from that perspective this could be a good move for OB.

Someone complained and got my Brady meme removed. For a team that has won a lot recently, Patriots fans are very butthurt. Also, I am going to buy more OB now.

    Laces out?

Is OB not "respecting beer" as the brothers put it?

As I recall, when people were protesting the use of Gandhi's image by NEBCo, this forum had lots of "learn to take a joke"/"don't be so thin-skinned" comments.

    Priorities are funny.

    1. I don't know what my opinion on Heady could possibly have to do with anything.

    2. "Tried to end trading on BA"... are you serious? I didn't even suggest that I want it to end (I don't), and I certainly didn't do anything to try to end it.

So yeah I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
