Messed Recipe Up?

This is a trick question, isn't it? Wheat malt extract is typically a blend of 2 row and wheat, isn't it? You'll probably make a great beer. What style were you trying to brew?

 

You will make a great tasting beer and honestly won't know the difference unless you brew the same beer 'correctly' and taste them side by side - and even then the differences, assuming all else was done the same, will be minute.

 

This thread should be lumped in with the 'screwed up hops timing' thread. Just think of all the malt/hop combos in beer recipes, and depending on how much is added/when they're added (to an extent) always seems to make a great and interesting beer. Hell, I even make 'leftovers' beers by throwing whatever extra hops are in the fridge with some harvested yeast and a simple grain bill and they always turn out well.

Don't consider it botched until you try it. I'm sure it will be tasty and definitely drinkable.

 

Welcome to the BA site and to the Homebrewing forum, _1KRR_. I think you've just found out that homebrewing is not an exact science as long as you don't expect an exact taste. Your beer will be okay, and the only way that you can screw it up now is by not following proper sanitation and the instructions for bottling. Enjoy your beer.

Looks like you made a shock top ale. Add some simply grape fruit and your good to go.

 

When I read these posts I always wonder what is to be gained by dumping the beer? I wonder if there is a fear that the end-result could be poisonous?

shits on my tomato plants
shits on the air conditioner
pisses on my dog
my dog pisses on him
bites my dog
my dog bites him
shows his brown star to the party
he antagonizes my dog
my dog gives him 29 stitches
i give my dog and extra scoop of food for it

hell, there are way worse things beer can make you do than simply pee and puke. I've know this guy since 2002 and I have seen him do all of these things but he has never once puked while drunk. Believe me, we have done some serious drinking.

Edit: my math was way off. I've been drinking. i'm 27 now so I think ive know him since I was 12 or something. Idk. 2002.

 

Do you need help drinking all of that?

 

I'm always impressed what 1 extra week does to bottled beer. Had a batch that smelled and tasted like flat wine then it mellowed out to almost to a strong rye taste with a good head and good co2.

 

Some people don't get along with brett byproducts. It can kill em.
