Metallic Breakfast Stout

    I bought a couple cases of breakfast stout this past fall and have gone through a dozen of them.
    All but two of them have had an extremely undesirable "bloodlike" smell. Instead of that glorious chocolate and coffee aroma, I'm getting the smell of raw metal. Am I the only one that's experienced this with last years breakfast stout? If so is Founders aware and what are they doing about it? This consistency of this problem this stout season has driven me towards Wake N Bake and away from what was a staple in my house in Breakfast Stout. Thank you all.

    I've gone through almost 3 cases, from several different stores and on tap, and I can't say I've had that issue. Maybe it's the local distro?

    Are you drinking it directly from the bottle? I have had this happen directly from the bottle.

    This years FBS was weak on the coffee, and almost no oat.

    Wake N Bake blows it away this year. Hate to say it but if FBS isnt better next year, i wont be buying any of it.

    I agree. I certainly won't be blindly buying a case before trying the season's offering. Lesson learned, I guess. Even my non-beer drinking fiance knows it's off. It's the only beer she'll drink. We'll, it was the only beer she'll drink.
