Love this beer, but haven't been shopping as much since it started hitting the area again recently. It seemed to last at least a few days last summer and I was able to get about 3-4 packs. NEBCO seems more random sometimes, distro-wise. I don't know a ton of places that carry it consistently. How fast is this beer moving right now? Gone the same day it hit the shelves? I'd love to get some for a camping trip over the 4th with a premium on bringing cans. Just read about that Fuzzy Duck IPA too, but I hear that is draft only.
At Blanchards in Allston it lasted a few days a month or 2 back, then we got it in again and a case sold in about a week.
I was at Gordons in waltham shortly after a shipment had come in. I grabbed a 4 pack, the rest were gone before I had finished shopping. Sea Hag IPA is readily available and a very good brew as well. There are a ton of good= great canned options out there now.
I'd like to chime in and say Sea Hag is tasting awesome lately, and if we all drink more of it, the more Ghandi-Bot we will see in Massachusetts. So +1 for me with the Sea Hag.
Gandhi-Bot is awesome! ! I got lucky and found a tucked away four pack in attleboro, two weeks ago. It really can give the California and Vermont dipas a run for their money.
Thanks for the help. Sounds like I may see it, I may not, but Sea Hag is worth another go. I tried it a while back and the hop bill just wasn't for me. I'm planning a wide-array of cans for this trip, probably a 12 pack of SNPA, 4/6 of a pilsner (probably Crisp or Mama's Little), 6 pack of Hell of High Watermellon, and a 4/6 pack of a good DIPA or IPA. I'll let the market dictate what to buy on the IPA front, but man I love G-Bot.
You know, like soze47 above I also had Sea Hag a while ago and hadn't tried it lately, but I got some recently. I don't know if my palate has changed or if they've changed the recipe, but at this point I'd say to anyone who hasn't had it in a while (especially anyone who has had and enjoyed Gandhi-Bot) to grab 1 or 6 and check it out. Not that they are the same, but if you line 'em up side by side, and on the left there's this you can get for ~$1.60 a can all year long and on the right there's this that costs $3 a can and considerable effort to obtain 2 or 3 times a year, the left looks better than you remember it.
Nope. Not an issue for GB which sells out anywhere it appears within a week, and likely not an issue for Sea Hag which is out of stock often enough where i shop in MA that I assume I'm not dealing with 6 month old cans.
NEBCO dates all of their cases, so if it's being stored on the floor you can just lift up the cans to see. If it's already on shelves and the cardboard has been thrown away, you're S.O.L. The lack of a packaging date on each can is really my only complaint with this brewery, though - all their beers are terrific, and luckily most places sell out regularly enough that you should be ok. That said, I recently got burned on an old sixer of Elm City Lager - and that beer does not age well in the least.
Just picked up a 4pk at Blanchards in Allston today. They had a few left. I cracked one and it is definitely at least a month old...still tasty though
4 packs are available at Acton Wine and Spirit Co. if you are willing to travel out to the boonies...
