Why spend 45 minutes on the road and pay tolls just to drink a pint and get a growler when I can stay in the city & walk/metro to any number of bars with tons of world-class beers on tap? I'm sure Aslin is doing good stuff, but it's ridiculous to insinuate that DC Brau is the only option in the District.

Why travel anywhere then? Traveling to experience new things is fun. People travel from all over the world to visit certain breweries, surely a 45 minute drive out to Herndon isn't that much of a commitment in the scheme of things if you really want to give Aslin a try. I'm excited to check it out next time I'm in town. Or, you could just remain in the confines of DC?

That being said, this is totally off-topic from the initial point you made. I agree it would be great if Aslin expanded to the point where it could provide draft beer in DC.

Yea, and they are also getting paid to do that five times a week. Everyone places a different value on their time, so it's not that hard to understand that some people just don't want to make a 1 hr 20 min round trip drive for beer every single week.

No beef with traveling for beer whatsoever, but schlepping out to an office park in suburban VA isn't exactly a trip to Vermont. It's just a weird in-between--it seems close enough to be a short errand, then you find yourself sitting in traffic on 495 and start questioning your decisions.

I'm sure i'll make it out to Aslin soon enough, but it's nice to have other local options.

Oh I wasn't advocating doing it every week. The original poster was implying that he would NEVER do it. Not even once.

Gotcha. In that case, it's definitely worth it to go out there to try it for the first time. Just leave around 10:20am on a Saturday, and you will get there at 11am. This way it can be guaranteed there will be IPA's available for fills. It's also nice not having to deal with the crowds. I imagine that place is a shit show later in the day.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've been there twice around 2pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. First time for just a pint, second time for a pint and growler fill. Knock on wood.

I drive by there on my way to and from work 4x/week and I can't justify spending what equates to a approximately a $30 sixer.

For me it's like buying/drinking the IPA version of a whale. Not something that I'm going to do on a regular basis, but sometimes it's nice to treat myself. My wallet says it's probably a good thing that I live 35-40 mins away so I'm not tempted to do it regularly.

Why, yes, yes it is. Especially if you don't have a car.

Nothing to do with metro dc, but that other half $75 4 pack is hilarious.

Quick question about Right Proper, the growler prices they post on their website, are those for 32oz or 64oz? Did a search but could not find this info.

I got both yesterday afternoon, and they haven't posted otherwise. They seemed to have 2 taps going of each.

Are either of them undercarbed? Neutrino was shitty last release.

No issues with either when I was out there on Wednesday. It was my first time having Small Town. I still think Orange Starfish is their best.

FYI, Neutrino and Small Town were both brewed in 4 barrel batches, Orange Starfish was brewed in an 8 barrel batch.

They ran out of crawlers when I was there yesterday, they are doing growler fills of them to supplement. I imagine they will be posting about this today.
