Maybe you would have had better luck if your growler said "Hill Farmstead" on it.

They wouldn't fill my 32 ounce long neck either. And when they filled my 32 ounce screw top, they only put 30 ounces of beer in it.

Yeah, they don't have the thinner filling tube for the swing-tops. Seems like it would be pretty simple to acquire. But without it, they can't do a proper fill from the bottom of the growler, so I appreciate that they don't want to.

Weird, because they do fill the long neck growlers now. They have the thinner tubes. I watched them do it last weekend.

too late to edit, sry for double post - the 2L growler was carbonated and is amazing.

They filled my 32 oz flip top yesterday with BSB. And I saw them fill a 64 oz tall flip top as well. Then they handed the 64 oz to the wrong guy and he walked right out with it.

Had a crowler of Neutrino last night. It was good stuff. Perhaps doesn't rise to the level of the best (I had DDH Congress Street the night before, so perhaps it was at an unfair disadvantage going in), but it's definitely a good NE-style IPA, and better than a lot of attempts I've tried. Excited to try my crowler of Small Town tonight.

I want to try the Small Town as well. I haven't had any of their beers yet. I am going to drink the BSB tonight. How long is the crowler good for if unopened? They were out of crowlers yesterday.

I was there for that too. They did take care of those guys those. Gave them all their drinks, drink tank, and growler fill for the mistake. Regardless of the guy loosing a growler, he made out big time.

Glad to hear it. I was surprised the guy just rolled out with it. Perhaps he paid for a growler and thought that was it? Not sure. At least they made it up to the growler owner.

It's just a can, so it's good for as long as you want it to be. I wouldn't sit on it too long though. I find that these styles of IPA's fall off pretty quick, but I haven't had a Aslin IPA older than 7 days. Maybe their beers hold up well? I would test it myself, but their beers are pricey so I'm not willing to try that out just yet.

I kept a crowler of Astro Zombie about 10 days to see how it held up. It was still good, but not quite what it was fresh.

So I'm curious, has Aslin largely abandoned everything but their NE-style IPAs and Imperial Stouts? The first time I went, they had a whole bunch of (largely unimpressive) other beers on tap including a saison, barleywine, blonde ale and a more traditional IPA. When I went this past Saturday, the only other thing they had was a kolsch. If they're just sticking with what they do best, I'm totally on board, but was curious if anyone knows if this is the plan going forward. They certainly seem to be churning out the NE-style IPAs on a fairly regular basis now.

They tweeted a photo of some new fermenters they installed this week, so hopefully that will let them experiment with other styles while still meeting the demand for IPAs. Hard to tell what size the new tanks are--they look around 1/2 or 1 bbl size, but i'm no expert.

Its not a can though, its not filled the same way a commercial can is. A crowler has much higher oxygen levels in it than a can would, and its not sterilized in the same way either. Treat it like a growler, not a can.

I certainly hope so. The other stuff was pretty standard brewpub garbage. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Yea, this. Personally, I wouldn't sit on a crowler for much more than 2 weeks or so, at least for an IPA.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they inject CO2 (or some other gas heavier than Oxygen) into it before filling and the crowlers and lids are soaking in Starsan before use so they should be pretty well sanitized. At least more sanitized then my growler rolling around in my trunk lol.

Regardless any of these IPAs should be drank as soon as possible for best taste. Things definitely go downhill after a week or so I would imagine.
