Metro DC Brewery Discussion Thread

@SlothB77. I'm sure Meridian Pint would love to get their hands on some Aslin. Meridian Pint will be hosting them along with several other local breweries (I heard Veil could be the 6th) for thwir Davor week event on Tueaday. Rumor has it Aslin is also brewing my favorite Deceiver variant of theirs for the event.

 

The Veil is not going to happen for this event.

Aslin, Ocelot, Redbeard, Triple Crossing, and The Answer.

Deceiver will be on tap along with an IPA and a DIPA TBD from Aslin.

 

In non-Ocelot/Aslin related news, haven't seen anyone mention that Crooked Run landed gold at the World Beer Cup. Props to those guys.

Heading out to Aslin on Saturday morning for the first time in hopes to get a couple crowlers of Dunley Place and Orange StarFish. I'm thinking about hitting up Ocelot as well seeing as its not too far away. Does anyone know the best place to find out whats on tap/bottle releases for Ocelot? The Aslin website seems to be a lot more friendly in terms of whats on tap and whats coming soon. Thanks!

 

Facebook is the best for both of them. Untappd is also good to use for Ocelot since they aren't as active on Facebook as Aslin. If something new goes on, Ocelot will post though.

 

I still don't understand why Ocelot doesn't post on FB/twitter at least once or twice a week since they don't use their webpage. I sent them a message on FB last week and they didn't reply either.

 

Brookland Pint has Wicked Garden on tap (as of 8pm). Wicked good for real.

 

I'm enjoying one of my last bottles of Wicked Garden as I type. Crazy white grape juice flavor with a hint of oniony dank. Somehow it totally works. Also glad to see someone's not afraid of a decent bitterness in their IIPA. A really great beer IMO.

 

Does anyone know what IPA/DIPAs Ocelot has on tap now? Any bottled?

 

Yea, Wicked Garden is awesome. Vic Secret hops are pretty unique. I'm a fan.

On an unrelated note, what in the hell did DC Brau do to OTWOA? I haven't had a can of that beer in +6 months, so I picked up one a Downtown Crown to try. I'm sorry, that beer sucks now.

 

The batchs seems to vary from great to horrible. The most recent one is defiently more towards the later.

 

DC Brau is a joke.

 

Ocelot just posted today what's on tap, including My Sweet VA, their BA Barleywine (note I've never had it but people seem to post they like it pretty often).

 

BOOM! It's legit! This was the first beer I had from Aslin and put me on their bandwagon. Can't wait to hear what other folks think - move over Abraxas!
