Thoughts....
Just had the Wicked Garden and Impression from my growlers and they are pretty good. I think Wicked > Impression based on what I had.
However.
I feel that the beer I'm having in my growler isn't doing these beers the Justice they deserve. Based on the feel and taste I think these beers aren't as fresh as they could be or just not holding up well in the growlers.
I'm sure I would have had a better experience if I drank them at the brewery right then and there.

But still good beers. Def must try's.

 

Wicked Garden was released probably a month or more ago, so that may be part of it, though I had a growler last weekend that was just as good as the day of release, maybe better even. But Impression was just released about a week ago. If you just got the growlers filled today there shouldn't be a problem, unless they heated up in your car? Dunno, but I have had the experience of hoppy beers changing drastically in the few hours between tasting them on tap and drinking a growler. Hops are mysterious things.

 

Some of Ocelot's Doubles have confirmed the 'too fresh' theory. Ive watched: Wicked Garden, Embrace the Loss, and Frightened; go from good to great with a week, two or three on them. 3 weeks is where a lot of these doubles peak. Having them on tap is a great way to watch them go from great to amazing.

 

That must be beacause of the holiday weekend, the last few saturdays I've gone they've been packed.

 

Anyone have any idea how much longer MHC will last? Getting back into town tonight and won't be able to make it out that way until tomorrow. Was hoping to get my hands on a crowler or 2.

 

Are they open for Memorial Day? They're usually closed Monday. I'd call to check first.

 

You're right it is closed. Was hoping they'd be open for the holiday.

 

Two questions 1) is MHC crowlers available tomorrow? 2) how does the Ocelot bottle on demand thing work, and when will it happen, select days, any day, rarely?

I think I figured out the Bottle on demand thing. Sort of weird Facebook post for essentially just selling beer they bottled already. Any Home left?

 

They do have Home left on draft, but its been on for a while and I don't really think its as good as it was before.

 

When I was there last Friday, they had 3 beers available for purchase. One was the barleywine and the other two were IPA's. So you couldn't just request a different beer than those 3 for a bottle fill, just a growler fill. The only beer you couldn't get either in a bottle or growler was the barrel aged My Only Friend. But they say they will be selling bottles of that soon.

 

Ocelot still has tomorrow and Impression bottles as of yesterday. (Impression to me is amazing!)

I like the Aslin MHC very much as well. Underground Pale Ale is solid but not amazing.

 

Anybody know which IPA's Aslin plans on releasing in the coming week?

 

Headed up to Boston in a couple weeks and was looking at the tap list at Ginger man. They currently have Impression on draft. Didn't know Ocelot made it out of state especially that far.

Edit: Just saw on facebook that they are going to be at the beer fest up in Boston and they opened the deck out back. Outdoor seating was the only thing I thought they were missing so I am stoked.

Yeah that deck looks awesome. I was out there on Sunday and I thought their new IPA Magnetized was excellent, and their pilsner is one of the best I've ever had. I'm convinced that they're the best brewery in the area and its not even close.
