yeah the sunglasses line might be getting old but the bashing of the pricing is not. it's really absurd.

I love a good backlash. And while I hesitate to wade in here I'm puzzled by the bitching over the price tag.

First off no ones forcing anyone to buy a ticket. If I have $100 to spend I can do whatever the hell I want with it without having people judge me for it.

Second, I actually think it's a pretty good deal. On average id say most breweries I've been to charge $20 for a shirt and $15 for glassware. Add fifteen 5oz pours and that's a little over $4 per pour - I bet that's competitive with Churchkey or snallygaster pricing (not to mention that fact that Churchkey seem to be shorting their 4oz pours these days)

    AND DONT FORGET THE SUNGLASSES!!!!

I have not noticed "shorting" at Churchkey. Longing, sometimes.

You see breweries charging $15 for a tasting glass? Doubtful, most breweries charge well under $10 for glassware (full size glasses at that).

No food, no entertainment, no beer to go...I just don't see the attraction.

you're missing the point. no one gives a crap about the tshirt, sunglasses, and $15 (where'd you come up with that?) glassware. It's essentially $100 for 75 oz of beer. that doesnt't even get into no food, entertainment, etc

Missing the point? You have no point. The ticket is for more than just beer - simple as that. If you guys wants to clog the thread up with your incessant whining go knock yourselves out.....

The point is that people don't want the other stuff that comes with the ticket. So you still seem to be missing the point.

By the way, I have no dog in this fight, I live in NYC. I just found this whole back-and-forth to be amusing. Also, the fact that tickets are slow to sell out suggests that the price might actually be set too high, but if they ultimately sell out that's all that matters.

And no one is forcing you to read and respond to posts of people complaining. No one is judging you; complaining about the price is different from asserting that you are a terrible person for spending the $100.

If I wanted Aslin glassware, t-shirt, and sunglasses, I'd just buy it at the tasting room. No need to bundle it with the anniversary ticket. If they were bundling random merchandise with crowlers, people would also be bitching. You can claim it's worth $15 for glassware, but if I don't need any more glassware because I already have too much, it's worth $0 to me. Not a difficult concept.

Anyone know if anything kicked at Aslin yesterday? Was planning to head out there around opening but don't want to do the long drive if options will be pretty limited.

I've got a 2015 bottle of KBS that I'll hand deliver to the doorstep of the first person in the DMV who posts a pic here of themselves wearing the sunglasses.

Living to get Radical? Color me unimpressed. Then again, I haven't felt like anything I've had from Aslin has been anywhere near the hype, so clearly my palate differs from many on this website.

yeah, when i saw they were doing previews, i was like 'well, no point in going to the anniversary party now. Just go to the previews with the beer you want.'

    They just undercut themselves.

Eh the preview sessions aren't that feasible for people that aren't somewhat local. Can't imagine many people coming from out of town for a few pours.

The party could be viewed as more of a destination for out of towners wanting to try all of the heavy hitters.
