We're visiting both tomorrow for the first time. Don't really mind the drive, since we never leave the city proper.

Am I correct in guessing both breweries fill growlers? If so do they have limits?

No limits at Ocelot, Aslin will probably have a 64 oz/person limit on their IPAs.

Anything can happen, but I think you'll be fine.

Champion isn't in the DC metro area, I beleive Fruit Basket has been brought up in the notable release thread though.

Ocelot has been pretty good recently about posting what's available on tap via FB, the growler prices are listed as well. I believe the only beer they don't currently do fills of is their milk stout, which is nitro only.

Just FYI, all Aslin beers are available in all growler sizes. 128 oz. Limit per person.

They ran out of cans; stating that they'll have more in next Wednesday. In the interim, you can get growler fills. Per Drew, I assume the max you can pick up is 128 oz. per visit.

How are people feeling about the two IPAs on tap right now? Worth the trek from the city? How did the last batch of Bringing Sexy Back compare with other offerings? Thanks.

@Dawensi. Master of Karate reminded me a lot of Heady. Lots of pineapple and a slightly tart finish. Champions of the Sun was also very good. I thought it was more guava and mango, but my palette sucks. Both were great and Very drinkable (I stayed for 4 hours, mostly drinking the Champion) but I still have a special place for Orange Starfish and Mind the Hop.

Anyone know if Aslin is still doing growler fills of their IPAs today (Sunday)?

Couldn't tell you if they still are, but if they are, it is definitely worth the trek, especially for the Master of Karate. While I do think it is similar to Bringing Sexy Back, which is also tasting great, there was a noticeable pineapple juice element and less of the malt element you get at the end of BSB that to me, made the Master stand apart. I thought the Biscotti stout was worth tasting too.

Went to both Aslin and Ocelot yesterday. Hype is real for sure, just wish they weren't so far out.

Grabbed a growler of Master of Karate (incredible) and BSB from Aslin. Tasting room wasn't exactly paradise, but it also isn't as bad as some make it out to be. Staff was fantastic. Ocelot's space is top notch (they even had a Premier League match on, A+++). Thought Frightened is a great DIPA. Really enjoyed their takes on sours.

Will def take out-of-towners to these spots. Good stuff.

Anybody had Ocelot's new IIPA, Frightened? I'm curious...and maybe a little frightened I'll have to suddenly drive out there.

Anyone have any opinions on Sehkraft Brewing? (are they serving their own beers yet?) Was thinking of stopping for dinner/beers after I fly in beginning of Savor week.

Haven't had any of their own beers yet. Food was good. Stuff from the butcher shop is best there. they still have a solid selection of beers from other local breweries.

They haven't brewed a single beer of their own yet. They have the Westover/Lost Rhino collab Hop Star on tap. That's about as close as you will get to anything they have made so far.

They have a pretty good list of (other people's) draughts, and I felt like it was cheaper than WOB or Rustico. Didn't look at the food menu, but they do have music on Th-Sat. That's just FYI, but as said they don't really "belong" in this thread, yet.

Don't be frightened, it's a very good beer. Not worth the trip for that beer alone, but a big fan of Ocelot overall so I visit when I can.
