So how is Stromhaus? Passed on a 6 pack last time I went shopping but need to restock on warm weather beer, and if Fader isn't back in stock probably going to grab it.

I have a question for you guys. This place looks amazing but, i prefer not to drive especially if I'm gonna be drinking. Is this place reachable by like a ferry from the loop or otherwise without spending 45 minutes or so on public transit? Or should I suck it up and drive? I kinda want to go to Microcenter anyway

That shirt is from Foeder Crafters in STL. They give those away at lots of fests down there.

The water taxis don’t leave the downtown area, so your only options are to drive, ride share or public transit.

Really solid beer and would be a great fill in for Fader if that isn't in stock.

MUST buy imo. I'm putting it into regular rotation as my easy beer of drinking evenings and hope it continues its distribution here. Unlike above, I'd grab this before Fader.

@flat_lander Lander - Stromhaus has been my GO TO beer for weeks now. You know I love my Rev cans, and Rev Pils and Ghost Ride are in my fridge, along with Krankshaft Kölsch and Stromhaus - LOTS of Stromhaus.

I always take public transit to here. But then, I live close to Belmont Ave., so it is relatively easy. Route #77 Belmont gets a lot of service; it is one of the Authority's 24-hour routes.
If you're proceeding from downtown Chicago, the stealth route there is the Blue Line "L" to California. Transfer to the {new} Route #94 California bus northbound. As its terminal loop, the #94 turns east on Belmont to get to Campbell St. Exit the bus at Rockwell Ave. and walk two blocks south.
Unfortunately, this advice is again (temporarily?) impractical as Metropolitan's taproom has been closed by the City of Chicago for not serving food.

Places with a food license and/or outdoor seating are allowed to operate for on-site consumption. The latest meme/directive restrictions are limited to indoor service without a good license.

Metropolitan Brewing is currently open for onsite consumption in their outdoor patio section.

I made it to the taproom yesterday for the first time. As many have said, it’s a great space and the weather was perfect for being on the patio. I had Stromhaus and the Maibock, and thought they were both excellent. I’ve been a huge proponent of the Dovetail Maibock, but I had to question which one was better. The Metropolitan one certainly had some of the honey coming through that would make it different.

Stromhaus = incredible. And I'd say that the "easy drinking" description (and the fact that they promote it for shotgunning ) might give the impression that it's light in all the wrong ways. It's not. I just had one, and every time I have one, I'm amazed at how just perfectly nuanced and flavorful it really is. (Because it is very light in appearance.) It goes down easy because it's just so friggin' good and perfectly balanced. (I actually haven't had a Dovetail to compare. Helles is pretty new to me, at least as far as I remember.)

As soon as they put out the Dortmunder cans, I'll be heading down to Rockwell for that and a restock of Stromhaus.

p.s. Any opinions on the Dortmunder?

Personally, I did not find it all that inspiring. Inoffensive, agreeable, pleasant -yes, but I'd rather have a Krankshaft. The same holds true for Jet Stream.

Funny. I have the exact inverse opinion. Inoffensive, agreeable, and pleasant are how I feel about Krankshaft (and Jet Stream). Like, but maybe not love.

I guess that balances out, and you can still confidently say it’s all good at Metropolitan.

Anybody pick up or have Humbucker? Any opinions? The description sounds interesting.
