He's a newb. We can cut him some slack.

Do some research on the trade forum, @AllDayIPA23. You'll learn quickly. Good folks will help you along the way.

Whats the deal with the BA versions? When are they expected to be released?

After they're barrel aged? Think its normally Septemberish/Octoberish or so. (or whenever they feel like they're done).

I thought BA Cake was the previous year's base Cake, am I wrong on that? Otherwise it would only be a few months of aging right?

Yeah, could be. Still think Septemberish sounds right though. (But can't be bothered to go look at past threads... sorries, too much going on in the BIF forum this morning  )

Yes, the base for this year's barrel aged Cake release was from last year's batch and has been aging in barrels since then. As far as a release date, no one knows. Last year it was initially going to be July, but Westbrook didn't feel the beer was ready yet and ended up releasing it in late September.

Man - I was part of a four year vertical of Dark Lord last year and thought it was great. I way prefer it to Mexican Cake. Now, that being said - DL is crazy over-hyped... but so is MC (all IMO). There are so many great beers being made these days, I'm very close to being over the whales I've not yet landed too.

Sounds like Savannah's allotment came and went quickly...

Both Habersham Beverage locations, Whole Foods, and Coastal Spirits (Pooler) received either one or two cases within the past 24 hours and are now all sold out.

I was lucky enough to get two bottles, one to drink now and one to age for next year's release. Hopefully it will show up on tap somewhere in the area, most likely World of Beer in Savannah or Pooler.

I'll be in Savannah in August, if you felt the need to trade it up for whatever reason, I'd be more than happy to help you out

If you're still hunting cake in the Columbia area, Gervais and Vine has a few bottles left. I don't know if they would sell them to go but you never know. If anything, they would charge a reasonable price to have it there .

Did any MC ever make it to NC? If so, where?

The Mexican Cake boat started in Alabama, then looped around to New York and England.

    Next stop, North Carolina!

Some on here have said that we'll get a few cases. I have no idea.

Jeppe co-owns the distributor which carries Westbrook in Europe. They've been available over here since quite early on.

$80 isn't even close to 5x more than original cost. These sold fresh at $30 a bottle.

You are missing a big chunk of that conversation. WiscoNYC said a 2 year old BA bottle was $150 at the brewery. That 2013 bottle originally sold for $20.

When I was there a couple weeks ago the on site list had 2013 BA Cakes for $150 and 2014 BA Cakes for $80, as mentioned previously.

Yep I deleted my post immediately because I found an old text with a pic of the bottle list on there and realized I was wrong.
