How hot is Mexican Cake? I realize this is a subjective question and the level of heat is going to vary from release to release. This is one beer that continues to elude me (and frustrate me because I can't seem to make a trade for it). I enjoy chile-infused stouts and spicy food as well. Huna and Abraxas were smoooooooth as silk. I've never had it and would love to try Cake but before I try to trade with anyone I'm a bit apprehensive about the potential heat level. I mean, we're not talking hot like CRIME and PUNISHMENT hot are we?

I little tingle deep in the throat after a few sips, hotter than Bomb, but not really hot as much as nicely spiced.

Mexican Cake was more abrasive to me than Hunahpu. More of a front end heat and less of a smooth slow burning like Hunahpu. It's nothing like Crime and Punishment.

As a chili head its was how do I say it, cake. some folks get in trouble on mild wings, its hard to say what is hot to you.
I grow the hot ones. the hotter the better, too a point:grimacing::grimacing:.... still that beer is ok, I am NOT a fan of chili in my beer period. so the after taste is where the burn is,,,,I am not looking for a beer that refreshers always but you do want one that does not make you want water after you have it, lol.:stuck_out_tongue::grinning:

again YMMV, and to each there own.

I like spicy food. I like chilis. I love beer. I did not like MC, not at all. I like to drink a good beer with spicy food to cool down my palate. When the beer itself is spicier than the food, it knocks the cosmos out of alignment.

I recently had Chocolate Yeti. Where would you rank that one in terms of spicy hotness? I once had Bomb! and it was incredible. Very subtle hotness. And I have a Huna waiting for me in the cellar.

I didn't catch a lot of heat with the last BOMB! I tried which was from 2013 (can't recall specific bottling date).

Isn't Mexican Cake brewed with Habanero Peppers? I imagine it would be like drinking a Habanero Sculpin. I like!! Can anyone tell me what the asking trade is for a Mexican cake?

    Thanks!

It is brewed with habaneros, correct. I am sure you can search trade threads to see what the value of MC is.

Not spicy at all, really. You get a hint of spice that is actually pleasant and, for me surprising, as I had no idea it was a chile beer when I had it on tap at Torst.

Now Indra Kunindra, that's a beer that will light up your mouth a bit.

mexi cake is the pinnacle of chili stouts for me. it's definitely thinner than huna and abrax, but the heat is a bit more prevalent. nothing close to crime and punishment though.
