I'm not looking for anything... I simply stated I don't do business with people who behave that way.

Other people acted like that was unreasonable of me.

Look... the beer is fine. Well above average actually.

The customer service experience isn't, and that makes all the difference (at least for me) when deciding where to spend your time / money.

Do you do business with Bells? Or all the other breweries that do dead silent releases? Silent releases aren't tailored for people that can come from out of state with the U-Haul full of mules. Its for those who come into the brewery everyday to get an opportunity first, then when word gets out, others follow.

Seems simple, no tickets, no lines and a constant stream of people to buy your product.

No one is forcing you to purchase their product, as I am sure there is another three people right behind you that would gladly purchase their product.

Silent releases are great, but that's not what their website says they do, so by not posting updated and correct information on their website and then referring you to their website when you ask about it, they are essentially lying to their customers. I get the beef. Saying "Its just beer" doesn't hold any weight either because its a business and its money, the product is irrelevant.

Last year we got about 7 cases (down 3 from the previous year), limited 1 bottle per person, and sold out in about 5-6 hours. Wonder what this years pull is going to be like

Again though, the website says not to call or email. You can't have it both ways! You can't get mad that the info isn't correct when you disregard something so obvious.

I don't have a dog in this fight, so I'm out. Just want to say THANKS to all the great BA SC people on here. I would not have known this was going on without your help. I was a little too far away to just swing by, but close enough that it wasn't a problem knowing there would be Cake available. It was great to see you guys aren't as crazy as Chicago beer people. I showed up 45 minutes early and that put me about #35. At 12:00 there were roughly 100 people there. That's very reasonable in comparison to what I normally see. Again, thanks guys.

If I was the decision maker at WB I would brew this year round and release barrel aged variants periodically...this is a business...the idea is to SELL THE BEER. Sorry for all you outta-staters who can"t be here.

I don't buy this, its clearly a shitty way for a business to act. Just fix your damn website to say its a silent release, don't call or ask about it. If they did that, then no problem. The way it is now just shows contempt for their customers.

Sounds like it survived the weekend? Can anyone confirm? I was out of town but will be there tomorrow if it didn't sell out (well I will likely be there tomorrow either way but would like to know what I'm in store for).

From what I've been reading there was some left over for sure from Saturday. So I'm driving up from Myrtle again to get more.

Keep in mind, a lot of this goes out into distribution...every case leftover from this weekend could very well end up on a trucking departing the brewery before the doors open Tuesday. I would confirm there are still cases available for purchase on Tuesday prior to driving a lengthy distance under the assumption Cake bottles are still available.

I would confirm but with the way Westbrook works I have no way to know till I'm there.
But I have the day off so worst case I go to Westbrook and have a few beers. I'll update once I'm there at 4 weather Or not bottles are available.

I am beginning to wonder if you could pour water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.

They have been doing silent releases recently, but the FAQ on their website says that's not what they do.

When I called a few months back to tell them the web site FAQ was giving incorrect information about the way they were handling the release THEY TOLD ME TO READ THE FAQ.

They reiterated that I should refer to the information they knew was wrong, and they never updated it.

Do you get it? They are fully aware aware they have incorrect information on the website and they not only don't care, they intentionally tell people to go by the information they know is wrong.

If they want it to be some kind of reward for their local customers, that's fine... but why not just be honest and say that?

Lot of saltiness on this thread for a beer brewed with peppers imo

It's probably time you let if go, you made you point and if you have a problem with Westbrook direct your negativity towards them and not a thread on Beer Advocate.

I don't know when we are getting it for distro, my system shows zero on order. I haven't gotten allocations yet either. My best guess is they may have us pick it up later this week so we can release it on Tuesday but it's anyone's guess, really.

The only truth in life is that the internets doesn't lie. Westbrook is defying the natural order of the universe by not updating their website.

My best guess appears at this point to be correct, we should be able to,start shipping cake for distro on Tuesday. Once it gets to the retailer or restaurant it is up to them to decide when and how to release it.

Also, I try to answer everyone's messages as best I can regarding distro, but be aware I only cover parts of the midlands and don't necessarily have the time to contact all my coworkers about where their cases are going.

I still do not have any allocations, nor do my coworkers. Cheers!

(Note this only applies to SC. I do not know when they would be shipping to other states in their footprint)

    Distro coming soon.

Right, why go to a release with basically a 12 hour bottle share built into it and that's a damn fun time every year. I like Blendi, but the BASC release is a lot of fun. Besides, making it to both was not only doable but extremely easy (which I did and I'm guessing others did as well). Hell, both BASC and Blendi were available on Sunday and possibly Monday (didn't check about Monday).

Perhaps all the people responding to him should let it go as well then? All he's doing is responding. Everyone else is making it a big deal as well. Personally I get the complaint. I have no problem with silent releases, but if you know you do silent releases and you refuse to answer questions such as 'Will Mexican Cake be a silent release?' and tell people to go read the FAQ (which says it isn't a silent release)... yeah, expect some people to be annoyed.
