Mexican Cake Release?

How easy is it to get multiples of cake for you SC folk? This is my girlfriends favorite beer and I am trying to get my hands on a few once it is released. Similar to something like abraxas or easier?

 

I was able to get a whole bunch last year, but I had to trade for all of my bottles.

 

It's usually pretty easy. Having said that, bottles were tough to get early on last year as WB wasn't able to bottle it all at once (bottling issue if I recall) and limited the amount bought at the brewery (6 instead of a case of 12). Once they did the second bottling, the rush to get them wasn't nearly as bad and were much easier to find.
The problem for you may be finding someone willing to ship to CA. I've done it once and it cost me a fortune!! Good luck in your quest for Cakes!

I got my hands on 3 bottles last year (I'm on the other side of the state from the brewery), I'm hoping for a few more this year, but I can't make any guarantees

 

Does anyone else get an error trying to visit the Westbrook's FB page? They say on their website that they'll announce the release on FB, but I can't seem to navigate there. Their twitter seems to be equally as useless.

Can navigate to any other brewery FB page except Westbrook (even with the link above). Guess my computer just doesn't care for Westbrook. @agalvin13 I'll be at the brewery once the release is announced and I'm sure we can work out some cross country shipping. I get delicious west coast goodies and you get brownie points with your gf - we both win.

 

As for announcing the release, be careful on that, WB didn't exactly 'announce' the release last year.

Good point. Perhaps "Once I hear about it on BA, social media, etc. I'll be jumping in my car and making a mad dash to the brewery in hopes of getting an allotment and perchance some Coffee Cake" would be a more appropriate sentiment.

 

Wish they would give us a date so I can take off work to go up there.... I guess the brewery release is only for people that have friends in the rights places.....
Wouldn't expect anything less from the mt pleasant Charleston types...

 

Distro is pretty big. People pissed about the brewery playing it close, you'll see it in retail if you look. No need to be mad about it.

Plus, it is quite easy to find on tap. You can usually try some either way.

 

You'll see it in retail, but not just put out on a shelf like it used to a few years ago. They'll do releases like they do for KBS or hopslam.

 

That's how it was done last year, and probably will continue that way...it doesn't seem that long ago that we got about 10 cases of MC and had it stacked up in the front of the beer aisle. Not any more

 

What kind of price are we looking at for regular MC?

It's gone up from $10 to $12 to $15...I'd expect it to rise again this year, though maybe not...we will know in a couple weeks.
