I was cleaning the cellar today and found a mexican cake from last year. It says on the bottle not to age it but i was wondering if anyone has had a year old mex cake and how it had held up? Thanks!

We had one recently & it was meh. It's the 1st time I've had it so I don't know if that was due to the age or if it's overrated. I've read that it doesn't age well.

I'm hoping to get 2014 MC & I'll have a more informed opinion if/when I try it fresh.

I have a JD MC which I've been told is holding up nicely. I hope that's true but won't know until I have a chance to drink it.

We just happened to open a 2013 Mexican Cake last weekend, exactly a year from its original bottle date. Having had it fresh multiple times I can tell you that the chili and chocolate flavors were basically gone, leaving only the base beer. They are absolutely right when they say to drink this beer fresh - it is FANTASTIC. But the components do not age well.

Same is true with Huna, in my experience.

I drank a 2013 a couple of weeks ago which has been down in my cellar since I bought it last October. The vanilla (in particular) and chocolate seemed to have faded but the chilli was definitely still very prominent. It felt very unbalanced as a result.
