Just curious, as I was thinking of posting an ISO, is this beer still bottled or is it only available as a growler fill? The BA profile and Westbrook's website show it in a bottle, but list it as a one-time brew and recent ISO/FT postings seem to center around growlers only. Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers!

It was bottled but back in the winter for their anniversary I believe (SC BAs can chime in if I'm incorrect here). Recently growler fills have been put up as some places in SC still holding onto kegs are tapping them. Will probably be easier to get a growler of it ATP as a result.

It was bottled on the brewery's one-year anniversery and hung around for a week or so before anyone knew what it was (were a little slow down here in SC). IIRC, the production was only around 1500 bottles total with quite a bit of the product kegged. Many stores have stored their kegs for the past 8 months or so and slowly trickled them out.

Problem is the pricing...I've seen 64oz grolwer fills range from $12 to $28. There are so many business offering growler fills down here (beer/liquor stores, grocery stores, gas stations, coffee shops, etc.) and it seems that all of them were able to score at least one keg of MC. Some stores are charging their "standard" fill price depending on the growler size (any growler fill is $X) and will lose money on these kegs. Other stores have taken note of the costs/limited-availability and adjusted their prices accordingly.

I have purchased and traded many 32oz Mexican Cake growlers and always charge the same price for the fill as the brewery sold their bottles for ($12) plus the glassware ($3). Sometimes I've lost money on the fills, other times... All that said, I don't think any past partner I've sent growlers to has been disappointed as the product was much better on draft than bottles (possibly because some of the bottles weren't capped properly and leaked during transit through distribution).

What does a bottle of Mexican Cake pull in a trade?

Probably similar to what I pulled in my 32oz growler trades...EvHo, Hammerhead, Syx, CCB MZ, Parabola, etc.

Nothing crazy, limited releases that I were not too restrictive on bottle limits or nice shelf seasonal brews that sell out quickly.

Isn't it going to be brewed again this fall/winter?

I've heard conflicting stories on this...maybe mikeincharleston can chime in with a more definitive answer.

Yeah about 120 cases bottled and a bunch of kegs. I guess most people are right about places holding kegs back and releasing them later. As far as being brewed again I was told it would be a few months back but that's the last we talked about it. With the popularity I don't see why we wouldn't but as of today there is nothing on the books. That isn't to say it won't be made again, just no time frame for when it will happen.

Any truth to the rumor that we will be seeing some BA Mexican Cake?

The base beer sans flavorings is in barrels yes. Im sure flavoring and chilies will be added when dumped. When will it be released I can't even begin to guess.
