    Hi all,

A buddy and I are driving through MI as part of a larger road trip, travelling West to East. We will be coming from Three Floyds and heading north along 94 and 196 to hit The Livery in Benton Harbor and then Founders, Brewery Vivant and HopCat in Grand Rapids. After this, we plan on going south on 131 to Bells, Arcadia and Dark Horse.

Any suggestions in this region of MI for good bottle shops? We would like to pick up some bottled Shorts releases if possible.

Any route advice and or must-stop places welcome.

    Cheers!
    Deepak

I feel like you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't pop in New Holland

I also suggest stopping at Greenbush. It was a highlight of our trip. We stopped for an hour or two and got some great lunch.

when you get to southeastern michigan the most popular breweries are kuhnhenn and dragonmead. Ann Arbor has Jolly Pumpkin.

In my neck of the woods we like Witches Hat and Wolverine. Kuhnhenn is a little far.

OP, if you have time and either to/from, OG in Milan has been doing good stuff.

You really need to hit Perrin while in Grand Rapids. Unbelievable stuff.

Witches Hat has real solid beers. If you're gonna be in the Detroit area then stop by Holiday Market in Royal Oak. It's my favorite bottle shop in the area. Great selection and prices.

For bottle shop suggestions, I'll add Siciliano's in GR (on the west side of GR), and Mega-Bev on West Main St. (just a half mile west of 131 on the south side of the street).

Short's has been releasing a new beer every 3-4 weeks and these are small batches so it's hard to predict what may be available from them. All of these releases have been excellent. You'll have to watch this Great Lakes forum for the posts from HopHeadHerman that announce when these beers are bottles and going into distro. The current one on store shelves is Beard of Zeus, a west coast IPA, and it is might tasty. If there is anything in particular that you can't find, then when you're in Battle Creek for your Arcadia visit I can tell you whether the two local stores here might have what you're seeking.

Deepak, if you're around the Royal Oak area (kind of by Kuhnhenns) let me know as I'd love to grab a beer with you!

I don't agree, but I withdraw my LOL. Perrin is very solid. Just unremarkable IMO.
