Hey guys, Have tried doing some research, but also wanted to see if there were any updated opinions (J Wakefield is open now, correct?!) on the best places to hit in Miami beach. I am going to be in Miami Beach for work Feb 17-18, and am staying through the weekend. Would love to hit the good beer spots. I won't have a car, and will thus have to rely on uber, or is there reliable public transport (excuse the ignorance...) I know the Abbey is likely closest, and it seems as though J Wakefield is ~25min away. Will it be worth the semi costly uber ride there(or do you know roughly how much it would cost)? I've heard great things about him in the past, but first hand experiences would be awesome from anyone who has visited the taproom. Are there any other places I should hit up close by? Is Yard house worth it? Finally, if anyone is in the area and wants to grab a beer let me know! I will likely be bringing some stuff down (have an IP trade thread up in the trading forum), so if anyone wants to trade check it out! thanks guys!
There's seems to be a lot of these threads lately. Since Miami/South FL is a popular destination for this time of year, maybe one of the mods could consolidate them and sticky it on the South-Atlantic forum for the next month or so? That said... You're definitely going to want to hit J Wakefield. There's not much for public transportation that will get you directly out there (the buses that do run through that district are very sparse and end their routes early) so some other options are Uber, or Car2Go, a public car sharing service where you borrow a smart car and drive it to your destination of choice for as long as you need it. I personally would Car2Go to Wakefield, then Uber back. It's about a $17 ride to Wynwood from SoBe, give or take (I used to be an Uber Driver as a side project). There are a couple of other very good beer places, like Kush and Wynwood Brewing. Also a couple of good bottle shops nearby like Boxelder (should be opening around the time you arrive), Biscayne Gas on 54 St and Biscayne, and Biscayne Homebrew shop further up on 79 St and Biscayne. Finally, if you're interested in IP trades, get at me, I may have some local and non-local options for you to entertain. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply. This is perfect! And apologies if this is a double/multiple post for miami. A lot of the searches I did seemed dated (~2013), so just wanted to see if there were any updates etc. But thanks! And shooting you a message for a potential trade!
