I second this recommendation. It’s unfortunate about LCB, though. Biers Inwood is an excellent little spot. I really enjoy the beers and the atmosphere in general.

They're on my list to visit (and I will stop there), but it doesn't look like that neighboring pizza place is open on Sundays, and I wanted a place with beer and food. I'll drive on down to Petoskey for food.

Yes plenty of great stuff there as well. I wasn’t able to get pizza the day I went either. I saw your review of Mackinac Trail from some years ago as well. When I was there they were renovating the patio and doing a lot of exterior work. You might be interested to go there as well. I really enjoyed the beer I had there.

I haven't seen any Rake beers yet, but after looking at the (few) ratings on their BA page, I should start looking harder.

I can't tell if Brewery Outré is open yet. Facebook doesn't announce an official opening, however, they list Thur-Sun hours. So you're on your own discovery with a visit there. Sounds like they'll have some interesting beers. I'll have to put them on my list to visit soon.

I've been to Presidential and Liquid Note. (Maude's next door to Liquid Note has a good tap list and a better food menu. That place has the same owner.) Presidential and Liquid Note are good places but nothing outstanding for the beers if I recall correctly. If you're a veteran you should stop at Presidential for a free beer and to support their efforts to recognize veterans. Grab a tag off the wall on the left as you walk in the door. Have you been to Latitude 42? They're just a quarter mile north of Presidential. Good beers and food. They also have a place out on W. Main St just off Rt 131 a quarter mile to the west.

Brite Eyes has been closed for remodeling but Facebook says they're open again. I don't know if the remodeling will create any change to the beers or food, although a pic on Facebook shows BBQ on a sign. I don't recall that being previously on the menu. Their beers are okay. If you decide to go there, check out the recommendation on Facebook to access their property. Street work just to the south on Burdick Street apparently creates some difficulty.

I haven’t seen any Rake Beer yet but I have had my eye out as I know M4 is distributing them to a store I frequent. I would love to try some. I haven’t had anything from anywhere else you mentioned although of course, Wax Wings has been on my radar for a while. 3 hours from home though so I haven’t had the chance to get there yet.

Most of the Rake beers that I've seen in distro are fruit bombs that I am not very interested in but I did have Float (dry hopped spelt saison) today & really enjoyed it.

The few beers that I have had from Brewery Outre were bad plus they are closed currently, looks like they are trying to open in some time in November.

I co-sign Latitude 42 it's good not great beer but excellent food at both locations. The Oshtemo loaction (W Main St) is down the road from Mega Bev if you need a bottle shop for any reason, that's the one to go to.

Brite eyes did recently remodel & they had started doing bbq this year but didn't really have the space to do it on the scale that they wanted so that was part of the remodel was adding more space for that. I agree that the beer is also good not great.
The location is on a bit of a triangle with 2 crossing streets in front of it with a parking lot in back & due to construction Facebook says to turn South on Burdick from Crosstown Pkwy if you go there

i ended up scooping some cans from wax wings, which have been solid. went to bells hoping for lunch, it was packed, came away with sideyard and a variant to go. i then went to latitude 42 and tbh the beer was pretty avg, the food was slightly basic for the price and the over all atmosphere screamed restaurant, not brewery. wasnt a terrible experience by any means. was honestly more put off by the plastic cups at wax wings. maybe ita a glass distro thing. all in all i need to visit kzoo more, its so close. although sad to hear weak reviews on a couple of their other breweries i didnt make it to. whats the word on tantrick and final gravity?

[IMG] I have been a big advocate for The Maple Grille in Hemlock for awhile. Now in their 10th year. The wife and I went there for dinner tonight which is rare as we have young children. The beer I had there was excellent, as usual. 3 different newer IPA’s which I will add later. The food here is phenomenal. This is a “farm to table” restaurant which I am a huge fan of. I love fresh food and being from a long line of farmers, I can appreciate the energy it takes to raise cattle or harvest fresh vegetables. The food here is literally second to none. If you have not been here, it is an absolute must. If not for the wonderful food, then the wonderful beer that’s varies from smoked porter, to IPA’s, and several lagers. Cheers.

I forget where I saw that the pizza place is closed on Sundays, but it's wrong. We had pizza during our visit and it's very good.

If anyone is going to go to Biers Inwood in the near future, US-31 is still closed from south of the intersection of the road where the brewery is located. Access to the brewery on 31 is open coming from the north.

Thanks for this thread. You guys have led me to some great beer!

Last week, I visited Arvon in Grand Rapids and had Jurassic Haze, Voyager, and Raspberry Puff. I thought all three were very solid. I am familiar with Transient and Bare Hands, and thought Arvon was in the same class.

I will be back in the area again in a couple of weeks for my daughter's bball game and will probably stop by Arvon again for some beers to go. Any suggestions on other beers to try?

Also, we ate at HopCat and had a nice meal. Any suggestions on another place to grab a bite to eat in the early afternoon?

    Thank you!

I think Brewery Vivant has the best brewery food in GR. And by the way, their beers are very good too. If the duck confit is still on the menu, order it. It was in the appetizer section the last time I was there, but it's enough food to be an entree. Enjoy.

Thanks for the input...much appreciated...I saved all of your suggestions in google maps!

I have another request. This coming Saturday, I will be headed to Spring Arbor University via I69 and M60. Any suggestions for a place to eat and any good beers-to-go along the way? Thanks again!
