Michigan Breweries/Stores (2021)

Yeah, I forgot to mention that they are also a florist, but who can remember everything that is sold in those stores? Battle Creek just opened a new beer garden area that is mixed in with the potted tree nursery area, and I know that Lansing has an outdoor space of some sort. How about GR?

EDIT: And I forgot about the flavored popcorn concession. That's the first aroma and department that you get when walking into the BC store.

 

So Lansings Horrocks has a pizzeria, beer garden, gourmet popcorn, Gelato, carnivore corner, more plants and flowers than you can shake a stick at. And any specialty beers you can think of like Toppling Goliath and Upper Hand specialties like sugar bush and laughing fish. I go at least once a week if not more. Only downfall is their prices are getting out of hand. A Shorts specialty 6 pack is now almost 15 bucks before tax and deposit, I can get the same beer at Meijer for 11.99. When you buy as much Shorts as I do those few dollars add up.

 

Yup! They actually constructed a new one this spring after taking over one of the outdoor greenhouse areas last year. It’s awesome a much more hidden from all that traffic and noise.

 

Arvon and Speciation are the two breweries I visit the most in Grand Rapids. Homes in Ann Arbor is probably my other favorite spot to visit. Not only are their beers fantastic but the food is absolutely amazing!

 

Interesting. I’ve never noticed an issue with prices at Horrocks… Meijer obviously can buy at a different scale so I don’t doubt they can offer lower prices but I’ve never thought Horrocks was out of line. Rishi’s on the other hand, straight price gouging to the point that I refuse to give them any business at this point.

 

I used the Arvon delivery option a lot when everything originally shut down which was extremely convenient. The brewery is nice and they have a bit of outdoor seating as well. No food prepared onsite but they usually have a food truck on weekends and San Jose Taqueria is only a mile or so down the road (super authentic and AMAZING). Definitely worth a visit when you're on this side of the state.

 

Everything rotates and they always have a real wide variety of options.

Arvon really is a hidden gem, just expensive and stuff isn't always in stock :/. I got a couple cans of their raspberry blackberry kettle sour for my birthday this year and that was insanely good. Would recommend their sours if you haven't had them. On the other hand, usually enjoy all kinds of IPAs and the one I got from Arvon just wasn't that good. Which usually isn't a problem for me. Planning to try another one soon, but was wondering if you had an opinion?

 

Where are my Old Nation peeps at? Probably my favorite brewery in the state.

 

Your probably on your own as far as it being anyone elses favorite. But I respect that, my favorite brewery is Shorts and that's a love hate with alot of people.
