I was wondering if there are any smaller breweries based out of Michigan that I should look for at bottle shops when I'm in New Buffalo this weekend. I live in Chicago so I assume that there is a pretty large overlap in distribution but I was specifically looking for smaller batch/new brews that we might not get in Chicago yet. Thanks!
I think you are about 15 minutes from Greenbush, I haven't been there, but have heard great things. Also you are about 30 minutes from Benton Harbor and the Livery, that is worth a visit. Don't know if they bottle though.

Right Brain, Dragonmeade would be the ones I would look for if you can't get them anywhere else. Right Brain shoudl be getting out about now. Saugatuck has some decent ones if you haven't had anything yet. And Kunhenn.
If you are able to, stops at Greenbush and Tapestry would be good. I had just sampled some tapestry beers at the UP beer fest last Sat, and liked those. Tapestry is new, and in Bridgman MI.
Short's doesn't distribute out of the state, so if you see any of their bottles for sale, it's probably the sort of exclusivity you're seeking. Their bottled selection is typically far tamer in style than the experimental stuff they have happening at the brewpub, but I'd never turn down a bottle of fresh Huma. Right Brain's bottled selections are solid, too. I love CEO Stout.
Unless my reading comprehension is way off I believe you are looking for lesser known Michigan beers that you can buy in a bottle shop - not breweries to visit. Soooooo I recommend..... Oddsides Citra Pale Greenbush Anger Rochester Hills Milkshake Stout I'm not a huge fan of Short's (except Hopstache) but other people seem to love their beers. If you like wine coolers be sure to get some Soft Parade.
Anything from Dragonmead, and Tri-City makes good stuff and bottles some of them. Also, you could get lucky and find some Founders Inspired Artist Black IPA. It didn't get any distro outside of Michigan.
Yeah, he wants bottles, but if he is out to see some local sights like Warren Dunes, he will go right past/near Greenbush and Tapestry. He might find something he really likes, and get the big bottle known as a growler. Whatever.
Someone from Chicago going to New Buffalo for the weekend? Who would've thunk it?!? Bottles from smaller Michigan breweries you'll find in New Buffalo crankers greenbush odd side dragonmead arcadia Tri-City Be sure to check out the beer selection at Barney's Market. They have a lot of singles there and you can make your own six-pack. Also don't skip on Shorts beers. They're Michigan only as stated above. Between Bud & Elsie's, New Buffalo Pharmacy and Barney's you should find a good selection of what you're looking for.
Shorts's Greenbush Brewery Vivant Vandermill Cider (not beer but tasty) B Nektar Zombie Killer (mead, delicious) Oh yeah, the Founders Artist Series Black IPA is only available in Michigan, it's like $9.99 too.
oddside, shorts, and greenbush would be the top options id be looking for. plenty of other goodies too though.
Hey guys. Does anyone know how greenbush bottles they're Growlers? Do they use co2. I notice they shrunk plastic around the cap. I opened one a week after bottling and got a nice loud psssst when I opened it. Appreciate the help
