I figured this would be the best place to find an answer to this question quickly.
I had a store clerk tell me today that some Ales now do not require a bottle deposit.
I am only interested in the facts, and was hoping that a distributor, or store employee that knows the laws could help me out here.
Are there beers in Michigan that do not require a bottle deposit?

You have been misinformed. All carbonated beverages require deposit.

I read a newspaper article last week that initial discussions are occurring to change the deposit law to create redemption centers, but no mention was made of any other changes that are being considered. All beers are still subject to the ten cent deposit.

Is there a reason you want to insert a joke.
I asked for facts because I had doubts about what I was told.
Your post is exactly what I was not looking for, but thanks anyway.

Lost Abbey is always said to be flat. Tax is on carbonated beverages. Therefors the attempt at humor.

First reply had your correct answer.

You could also search for the legislation.

For whatever reason for the majority of cider has no deposit nor does carbonated mead.

Cider and Mead are treated like a wine so no deposit required.

Water has no deposit, unless it is carbonated water, then you pay the deposit.
