Michigan Hunting this week - help please!

Holiday market in royal oak still has singles of el dankerino and beautiful disaster.

 

Mt. Pleasant's pretty rough for finding rarities, but you might occasionally run across some good stuff (born/lived there, in Ann Arbor now). Like I managed to pick up Smuttynose Baltic Porter and Really Old Brown Dog there when I didn't know they existed spending most of my time in AA. Hah, picked up a yeast-filled bottle of year-old Sweet Repute last year there too when I hadn't seen in SE MI for months, but that doesn't help, sorry. Seriously, random decent-quality grocery stores (like Ric's in MP) are probably the place to find good rare stuff in the northern half of Michigan, I once saw a bomber of CBS there before I realized what it was and that I should have bought it immediately...

 

op, when you stopped in Frankenmuth, did you visit the Lager Mill? They usually update their facebook page with their new releases. Also, I hope you stopped at the Frankenmuth Brewery. Their beer use to be meh but it was much better the last time I was there. Probably has to do with the fact that their new head brewmaster use to be the head brewmaster at Bell's once upon a time.

Also, have you been looking for any of the more recent releases from Short's? Short's has a great reputation in Michigan and it is only distributed in Michigan. Sticky Icky Icky is coming out any day now. If you like pine in your beer, Short's Imperial Spruce Pilsner is a good one that should still be in some shops. If you're lucky, you may find some Hopstache or Strawberry Short's Cake but those are most likely gone by now.
