Welcome to the BA site, freeline. A thread about Frankenmuth gets started a couple times each year, and here's is a link to a search that I did on thread titles that date back to 2012. http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...=Frankenmuth&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=9 I'm probably repeating some info in these search threads, but Frankenmuth Brewing is the only brewery in town, and it is very worthy of a visit with good beer and food. I think they have a full bar and wine offerings. If you do a search in the Places feature here on BA you'll also get another brewery on the list by the name of Black Forest. That place no longer brews beer, but is a good eatery with a good tap list. It is located on the south edge of town on the street that is behind Bronner's Christmas Store (another traditional place for visitors to shop). Downtown is The Lager Mill, a good beer store, but no one has listed it yet here on BA. Also in downtown, to enjoy the Frankenmuth experience, most people want to have a traditional family-style chicken dinner at either Zehender's or The Bavarian Inn. These restaurants are across the street from each other. The Bavarian Inn has German beers available, but I don't recall whether craft selections are also on their tap list. In the lower level of the building where this restaurant is located is a group of small shops, and among then is a fairly good beer and wine store. I don't recall if Zehender's has beer available or not, and I never paid attention whether wine is available at either. Enjoy your trip.
Just went last weekend with my family. We stayed at the Bavarian Inn the had a nice bar down stairs 10-12 taps . They had DRIPA on tap. They offer Growler fills of all of their beers and also sell some nice custome stainless growlers. The lager mill and the Frankenmuth Brewery are must hits
There is a winery across the parking lot from Frankenmuth Brewing, so you could hit the brewery while the wine drinkers hit the winery.
Frankenmuth Brewing is a good place to start, pretty good food and good beer (I thought the Bavarian Brunette Dunkelweizen was great). Lager Mill is a must have if you're looking for something to take on the road, with lots of bottle offerings from Michigan (and out of state) brewers. The attached museum cost $2, I think, and was interesting enough for being that cheap. Price also includes admission to the Frankenmuth Historical museum a few blocks away. Both Bavarian Inn and Zehnders have pretty good beer and wine selections. Zehnders had a bar area up top and the restaurant below. Both have house beers in addition to decent local brews.
