Michigan Winterfest!

Hi, my name is John, and yes, I am going to wear a sweet hat.

 

All set. Getting tix wasn't an issue for me for some reason. Got the hotel booked and taking the hopper!

 

I hope Blackrocks is there again this year. For some reason, there were at Winter this past year but not Summer or Fall.

 

I can't guarantee a cool hat, but I can guarantee sexy beer times to be had.

I just might hang around Dark Horse and Short's all day. I'll swing by Bell's for some Black Note (and definitely if they still have BBB9K, but that might be a bit of a stretch), Founders for the obligatory KBS/CBS, Kuhnhenn for BB4D, and Rockford because they're a five minute walk away from my house and they're awesome and you guys should check them out, but with the massive number of beers those two pump out for this, you almost don't need to go to anywhere else.

 

Might try to find a sweet hat.

These are the beers that I had at Detroit Fall Beer Fest that I want to have again: Our Brewing The King, Witch's Hat BB Night Fury w/ Coffee, and Tri City Dragon Slayer.

 

Issues getting tickets kept me out of my second one ever. If anyone has a hookup, or hears of extra tickets, I'd be most appreciative.

 

I'm confused, is this for the MBG Winter Beer Fest or an actual event called Michigan Winterfest?

Whoa. I wonder what is going on? Glad to hear everyone is safe though. I do wonder if WBF is going to be cancelled though.

I honestly doubt they'd cancel. Maybe postpone or move to a different venue if the damage was severe enough, but not outright cancel. Plus, the event is in the parking lot, not the actual structure. If they think they had a shitstorm before with the initial selling of the tickets, they'd get 6,000x that if they canceled.

 

Due to the fire, the festival has been cancelled. Please send me your tickets, and I'll properly dispose of them.

 

I would think that unless there is a lot of debris in the parking lot area, then it should go on as planned since everything is outside in the parking lot and not inside the ballpark. It's over a month away, but time will tell. Just my $0.02.

 

News says first base side stands have collapsed. The fest was in the parking lot to the north, off of the outfield.

We will have to wait for news and updates.

 

VIP area was inside in the outfield buildings. They could add a tent for that.

 

Would guess it'd depend on how much repair they have to do. Obviously, the priority of the stadium is the baseball season, which is a few months away so I guess if they had to store a bunch of materials and equipment in the lot, that could impact it.

 

They confirmed on their facebook they would be there which is awesome. What's also awesome is that I just picked up a 6pk of Coconut Brown in GR!

"The Michigan Brewers Guild is certainly concerned about our upcoming beer festival at the Fifth Third Ballpark but our first concern is for all of our friends at the West Michigan Whitecaps. Our thoughts and prayers are with the staff at the ballpark today and we will assess what it means to the Guild after the damage is under control and can be assessed. Because our event is held outside the ballpark in the parking lot we are hopeful that it will turn out well. We will do our best to keep fans of MI beer informed in coming days as we learn more."
