Does anyone know anything about the second Finback location yet?

Came to the BA forums today to see if there was a Mortalis thread. Not yet. Maybe I'll make one...

Anyway... Everything I've had from them so far has been fantastic. That includes a couple DIPAs, a Sour IPA, and a blueberry & blueberry muffin berliner. Really looking forward to having what's left in my fridge this weekend.

I definitely plan to check out the taproom when I'm home visiting family in Rochester for the holidays. Will surely be bringing as much home as I can!

Singlecut North has their store open for can/merch sales now, Friday-Sunday, and word is Memorial Day weekend for the new taproom opening. Must be doing some major changes because Shmaltz is fully out by the end of this month.

Very interested to see if they keep the same level of brewing capacity. Their facility can produce more than any place I've ever seen save Treehouse, and in addition to them making enough beer to ship to 40+ states they also contract brewed a ton. Even if SC wants to drastically ramp up production -- which is risky -- I don't know if they'd even get close to using all of what that facility has.

Nightmare Brewing, which calls itself a phantom brewery, has three cans and kegs floating around NYC right now. All extreme sort of beers. I picked up a 4-pack of their 17% imperial stout for $20. Pretty good.

I thought they were affiliated with Root & Branch, but was told there is a connection to Sand City Brewing. I believe they brew out of Great South Brewery.

No affiliation. It’s Billy of Sand City’s project.

Subversive Brewing & Blending in Catskill is now open. Frog Alley in Schenectady is open as well.

Didn't get a chance to check either out, but will soon and I'll report back.

Edit: Frog Alley is in a soft opening phase, full opening in March.

Subversive Brewing is really, really, really good. The variance of styles they have on (Belgian pale, red ale, wild ale, NEIPA, keller) is awesome and they genuinely nail all of them. If this is what they can do with literally their first batches ever they could turn into something special.

Hmm, Catskill is an easy shot from here, think I'm gonna check these guys out soon. Hadn't heard of them, thanks for the update.

Don't think I mentioned this but Slate Town brewing up in Granville has only been open a few months but they're super impressive. Like Subversive, they've got a very wide range of styles on and they nail them all. Taproom is big, they've got some TVs, a pool table and Trivial Pursuit cards anywhere you'd be sitting.

It's a hike even from the Capital Region, but you can go up there and on the way back hit Battenkill Creamery and Cary Hill Sculpture Park and make a day of it. Actually seemed like Granville had a couple museums, coffee chops and restaurants worth checking out, too, but I didn't do anything there but the brewery.
