Y’all know the drill by now.

Spots slated to open that I’m aware of:

    1) Port Schuyler in Watervliet

    2) Soulcraft Farm Brewing in Cambridge NY.

    3) Brewery Novalis in Syracuse.

    4) Rising Storm’s second location in Rochester.

    5) Frequentum’s second location in Buffalo.

    6) Wayland Brewing Co. in Orchard Park NY.

More when I’ve got it as always.

Argonne Rose is Mohegan Lake had their grand opening this last Saturday. Initial reports seem good. I'll probably make my way over there in the coming weeks and will report back unless IGYP beats me to the punch.

    Over here in Berkshire County,

Hot Plate Brewing will be opening late this month it looks like in Pittsfield. They are currently brewing wih plans to open the taproom soon. I do not believe they have announced an open date.

Bright Ideas is under construction with their 12,000 sq/ft Westfield location. Looking to open the taproom early Summer, but will be brewing for distro before that.

On somewhat sad news, Shire Brew Hous in Dalton halted all brewing operations for a month with plans to either sell or close. Good news is they have decided to resume operations for the time being hopefully holding them over until they have a buyer.

I'm excited about Hot Plate, I tried a bit of their beer and it was good! It'll be nice to have a place here in town to go to.

that's a bummer about Shire, they were making really good beer for a while, but their brewery space and their hours were terrible. They opened at 4PM on Friday -> Sunday. They could have done a killing if they were open on weekend afternoons. They seemed more interested in running the (meh) restaurant instead of pushing the beer.

My understanding with Shire was that they sold the kitchen/restaurant to the chef that does their food when COVID hit. The space acts as their taproom, but they are separate entities. The rumor I heard is that the chef is interested in buying the brewing side of Shire as well.

I'm torn on hot plate. I had samples from them at Fresh Grass and it was bad home brew. Others I have spoken to felt the same. With all of the press they are getting (some national), I'm afraid they will be all talk and marketing without putting out a decent product. But, this might change once they brew on a commercial system. I'm 100% willing to give them a shot, but I don't have high expectations.

I'm honestly ok with B / B+ caliber beer in Pittsfield. I just want a place I can go and drink a beer that isn't Patrick's or a chain.

Yeah Shire’s hours are wild annoying. I’m in that area of Mass a bunch and have never been because what the fuck are you even bothering with with only being open like eight hours a week.

I don’t know if my one has mentioned sixpoint has a new outpost in Brooklyn. Not the original new taproom they seems to have fallen through. It’s a spot st a spot called city point.

Place called Mystic Hill Brewing opening in East Concord (super rural south of Buffalo) opening this year.

I have no info beyond that.

Checked out a few new(er) spots a few weeks ago:

    - Argonne Rose is… interesting. It’s such a cool venue but I don’t think it’s used to its potential. Just kind of a weird setup and vibe. The beers were all really solid though and solid Belgian-style beers are impossible to find so I hope they do well.

    - Alternative Medicine is a very cool venue and beautifully done. Diverse taplist and the couple things I had were really nice. Not a place I can see going much just because I’m never in Mt Vernon but absolutely worth a stop for anyone in/near the area.

Got a place called TUB TOWN Brewing that opened last month in, wait for it….

    BATH, NY.

    *rimshot*

Also in that area of NY, Wayland Brewing’s taproom looking fucking gorgeous. Eager to see the finish product.

Lastly — Return in Hudson teasing that they’re getting close to opening. If I’m blindly guessing I’d be surprised if it’s before April but we’ll see.

Personal Best in Ithaca must be really close to opening. After 3+ years of construction, they’ve brewed an Italian Pilsner, a rice lager and a west coast double IPA this week.

    - Fidens is gonna open their new taproom in the Warehouse District in Albany. The spot was a short-lived wine bar and it’s a really cool and unique space so I’m super excited to see what they do with it.

Also they’ll do stupid business in that area being next to Wolffs, Nine Pin, Thacher St Pub (real ones know), Lost & Found and the second location for Lionheart.

    - Rebel Sailor in Shortsville (super close to Canandaigua) is kegging now so I’d assume a spring opening there.

    - Atom Fermentations putting the pause (maybe permanently) on that brewery opening near Scoharie. Combo of health problems (this is from their official instagram, I'm not just speculating) and rising costs. Said they may make another run at it if costs come back down, but that's not what costs do in our economic system so I wouldn't expect to see them ever open TBH.

    - Place called Cigar Brothers Brewing looking at a summer open in Whitehall NY. Brewer wants to make all kinds of styles, starting out on a 3-barrel system.

Soft opening this past weekend. Heard there was a large crowd but nothing about the beer or the place. Will check it out if anything going on this weekend.

The hours were posted 27Feb. So it looks like they are officially up and running the first weekend in March. Yay!

And the soft opening looks like it was a big success.
