I mapped out a lot on google maps so I could refer to it as I passed through places. I actually finished the ride in Battery Park, so hit up some spots in Hudson Valley as well and capped it off at Blind Tiger. A lot of good beer within riding distance, it just depends on the day you roll through and if they're open that day.

Going to need to open a Gentle Giant thread for 2024. Before they used to be exclusively on tap and crowlers at the brewery, but they've been canning frequently this past year. They're dropping 5 canned options on December 13th.

Paleolithic Pils, Smash Czech Pale Lager, Rakta Cherry Sour, Endless Summersaur Session WCIPA. and last but certainly not least: fresh Citrazoic DIPA.

Any idea on where Interboro is moving to? Recent Instagram post said they were moving out of Brooklyn to somewhere upstate.

TBH no. They said they’ve been brewing upstate and there aren’t too many places with the extra capacity to do Interboro’s shit on top of their own.

Also couldn’t parse from their statement if they meant they were gonna open a taproom upstate or somewhere in the city. May go the Big Alice route and just find a spot in the HV or FLX to open something.

    1) Apparently 17 West in Liberty closed in October and this is the first brewery I’ve seen in NY to close citing not enough traffic/business. I’m not surprised because A) You’re in fucking Liberty which would be fine because even the tiniest community can support and brewery but B) Bridge and Tunnel, Upward, Catskill, Roscoe and Russian Mule are all in that same general area. Even with Catskills hiking or winter sports traffic that’s too many breweries in too sparse and inaccessible an area.

That kind of thing works near Suarez because all those spots are very close to 87, 9 or the Taconic and all less than an hour from Albany AND Poughkeepsie but Liberty isn’t near fuckin’ dick.

    2) Good Nature planning on re-opening in 2024. Great news and selfishly I’m thrilled because of how much that brewery means to me.

I happened to be staying in Athens and it took me some poking around on Untappd and BA to figure out that Night School was open for the first time last night and that it was going to house Deep Fried Beers and others. Right now they don’t have anything brewed in house, but plenty of beers by Johnny of DFB (including some he brewed at the new Crossroads.

He says he’s going to focus on styles well beyond what he’s done with Deep Fried (ie: not just big juice bombs) and that he wants it to be a well rounded bar experience, not just a brewery. So look for food and cider and wine and such, which makes it a nice place to bring your special someone who doesn’t really care about craft beer.
