    Other notes:

    1) Schwalbacher in Amsterdam still on plan for a 4oJ weekend opening. Won't be able to get there then but will check it out soon after.

    2) Bandstand Brewing (Brew Works? I forget) in Warrensburg has posted a lot of progress pics and still look on track for a summer opening.

    3) Place called Abstract Brewing in the works in Hamburg NY, right downtown.

    4) Beer King Brewing opening 4oJ weekend in Tonawanda NY. Husband-and-wife owners, beer styles and descriptions look pretty late 00s brewpub but that ain't inherently a bad thing.

    5) New York Beer Project building a bigass lodge brewery in Orchard Park a couple miles from The Ralph.

    6) Dewolf Brewing slated for a late 2024 or early 2025 opening in Victor NY.

    7) Looks like McGraw Box Brewing opened a second location in North Syracuse, taking over for the spot that IBU had before closing a couple years ago.

Does anyone else here get a rush when they see there's a new post on this thread?

I was hoping they'd be open for Father's Day, but I'm okay making another OH trip after 7/4.

    I’m too good at this.

Open for business this afternoon. Excited to check it out in a couple weeks!

Was down there last Sunday morning for a little run by the lake and saw the OH sign covering up the old Young Lion sign and was hopeful for perhaps a soft opoening that day. Will have to check it out today or tomorrow..

Went to OH at the lake today. Upstairs is open, downstairs in a couple weeks. They had all the Green City beers on tap, as well as a Mexican lager and an English mild. Sat at the bar. Service was exceptional, attentive and on point. View from the upstairs fantastic as always. Got busy, but staff able to keep up with no issues. They say they're going to have a full kitchen soon. All the pieces already in place.Big Thumbs up!

Thanks for the review. Is it crazy to suggest a Finger Lakes BA meetup there sometime in July?

Must have been an unannounced soft opening. Gonna try stop by this weekend after work. Looks like it’s occupying the old spot that was formerly strangeways.

@ColdOne @Rocktire Might be doable. It all boils down to timing. Would be fun though!

A new brewer is coming to Brooklyn. Eckhart beer co is opening fall 2024. And no that’s not the recently opened Esker Heart in NJ. Will be a lager brewery. It’s in east Williamsburg kind of between Grimm and KCBC. I have no info in them. Instagram doesn’t have a post yet.

they’re hiring a chef and the job posting has a little bit about the biz:

“Eckhart Beer Co. is a new, 8000-square-foot brewery and taproom in Brooklyn, specializing in European- style lagers. With an expected fall 2024 opening date, Eckhart will bring the best of the European lager beer tradition from raw ingredients, to brewing process, to hospitality to the heart of Brooklyn. Eckhart will embrace a narrow-but-deep approach to the craft brewing movement, featuring a small range of beers but focusing on perfection, tradition, and authenticity at all levels.

Eckhart will have a fully built-out, 100-seat taproom with a full kitchen, and we intend to create a welcoming and convivial space that is a destination for casual beer drinkers and aficionados alike.

Who we’re looking for : Eckhart’s owner is a veteran of Michelin-starred kitchens in New York and San Francisco, but envisions a tight menu of simple but well-crafted dishes that can be produced easily in volume and served in a casual setting.

Here is a podcast with Nick Meyer of Eckhart Beer. He goes through some details about the brewery.

    Couple quick hitters:

    1) Grow Brewing opening their taproom in New Hartford (next to Utica) this weekend. Will for sure check it out sometime soon.

    2) 6 Acres Farm Brewery in Mexico (near Oswego) announcing an opening date soon.

    3) Checked out Schwalbacher in Amsterdam last week — nice little spot. Had a French saison and a bitter, really liked both. No outdoor seating at the moment but nice and spacious inside.

Beer Kind Brewing just opened recently in Tonawanda (just north of Buffalo) and I haven’t been and really don’t like to talk shit on anywhere I haven’t personally experienced

    Buuuuut

Their bar is one of those self-serve stations? Sorry I fucking hate that. HATE that. It’s whatever for a beer bar (there’s a super cool spot in Syracuse with this setup so it can work) but at a brewery I wanna talk to somebody. What’s good? What style do you love making? What’s coming down the pike? I don’t wanna stand at a god damn robot to get beer at a brewery.

Too many dope spots in the Buffalo area for me to ever bother with this one. It reeks of venture capital cost cutting and I think it’s fucking gross.

Even as, perhaps especially because I am, an extreme introvert I hate the whole idea of robots and computer terminals in place of service people. It makes me feel like I don’t exist. And I think it feeds the cultural shift towards narcissism. It is stripping us of our humanity.

and yes it does seem hypocritical to post this in a social forum. However, take note that I am confident (hopeful) that real living beings are on the other end.

    Beep boop.

I agree. I don't like having those things. It is incredibly impersonal and I like to talk to find out what's going on with a place.

    Couple quick hitters:

    1) Return Brewing opening an outpost in Catskill, looks like where Crossroads’ own outpost used to be.

    2) Place called Mountain Roads Brewing in the works in Henrietta. Won’t have a taproom, all just DTC can sales at the brewery itself. Focus entirely on IPAs.

    3) Hit up Grow the other day. Really beautiful spot inside and they do two things I love — they let you build your own 4-packs of any of their (plentiful) can options for sale and they do a super wide variety of pour sizes depending on beer.

Those are the exact kind of things that will ensure I regularly stop at a place anytime I’m in the area.

(Their beer is also very solid, which doesn’t hurt)
