Looking for a good place to stop between Philly and Cleveland to get some great local beers and spend the night, Typically Bedford, PA is our stopping point, but open to other areas also, any suggestions?

    Four options:

    1. Harrisburg area. Troegs and Pizza Boy. Drives would be 2 hours from Philly and 5 hours to Cleveland.

    2. State College. Happy Valley Brewing, Otto's, Elk Creek. Drives would be 3 hours and 4 hours.

    3. Williamsport. Bullfrog. Drives would be Drives would be 3 hours and 4.5 hours.

    4. Pittsburgh. Brew Gentlemen, Voodoo, etc. Drives would be 5 hours and 2 hours.

If you're looking for roughly equal drive times, I'd stop at Pizza Boy for lunch and spend the night in State College.

Top suggestion personally would be Pittsburgh, with second choice as Hershey--primarily for above reasons.

For State College, skip Happy Valley and go to Zeno's or Liberty Craft House. They probably don't have local beer, but Happy Valley was terrible the only time I've been there.

I agree that Happy Valley isn't going to blow anyone away (though I think the food is solid); I was just trying to give the OP breweries/brewpubs he could visit, rather than just bars. You're right, though, if he does go this route stops at Zeno's and/or Liberty would be in order.

I'm partial to this plan in part because I'm a Penn Stater. Other people's mileage may vary, but geographically at least State College makes a lot of sense as a stopover between PHL and CLE.

Not a brewery but State Line Liquors right at the MD/DE border. They have one of the best beer selections on the east coast. Worth the trip. Free membership will get you 10% off your purchase. Also, Tired Hands is just outside of Philly. Amazing beers.

Tired Hands, yes! If you go the Harrisburg route and stop at Pizza Boy, they've usually got a good line-up of Tired Hands as well.

Right now there are no Tired Hands beers on draft at Pizza Boy. Here is their updated beer list--> http://www.alsofhampden.com/beer.php

It's beer week, no room for non event related beers. They have a bunch waiting to go on once some kick.
