Looking for some info on Midnight Sun. Does anyone know of a release schedule or what it takes to trade for the following:
    Berserker
    Arctic Devil
    Moscow
    TREAT

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know what you used in trades or even better if your in Anchorage what you would be looking for in exchange.

    Cheers

From my experience they aren't that hard to trade for and are well worth it. I've had Moscow and Treat but the best 2 out of of the 4 are AD and Berserker by far IMO. I want to say I've noticed slight batch variation year to year with AD and Berserker but they are always very solid. Awesome, just realized you never asked about what we think.

I can't remember specifically what I traded for them but I believe it was other limited shelf beers or highly rated shelf beers (ie Zombie Dust). I know the PNW gets good distro of MS so you may want to use seekabrew to see what you have and they dont. I would think bcbs $4$ would be a good trade that would get done easily. Not sure but I think AD and Berserker run in the $15-18 range. Sorry for the vagueness but thats all I got.

Edit: again, vagueness but I believe Berserker comes out in winter (Nov-Dec) and AD (Jan- Feb).

Much appreciated, opinions on the 4 are always welcome! Those were what sounded most interesting to me going through the lineup. Was there something else from them I should seek out? Always looking for something new to try, got a box from Hawaii last week so why not Alaska now. Info is a big help, bourbon county is something I've got plenty of.

I miss Dimebag and Pantera, those were the days!

AD is a solid BA barley wine that I would compare with Sucaba (if thats your thing). Berserker is just unique. Unfortunately its not as thick as I'd like it to be but it has a lot going on. I can't recall if they tweak the barrel %'s every year but they use Bourbon barrels and red wine barrels iirc. I believe both beers are similar to other limited release shelf beers where depending on what part of the country you're in they may fly off the shelves or sit there for awhile. Hopefully someone from the west coast will chime in tomorrow.

I miss Dime as well :slight_frown: One of the most bad ass guitar players and down to earth dudes to ever grace this planet.

Being in the Chicago area I've got access to plenty of great stuff that's always in demand plus a fully stocked cellar. Just looking to add a few more stouts to it for those cold winter months coming up. Haven't opened my Sucaba yet but Revolution BA Barleywines are outstanding.

    Info is specific to Anchorage.

Arctic Devil is released in January
Berserker is going to be released twice a year - latest batch was released a few weeks back - high west barrels
Moscow was released about a year ago - non ba rye stout - still on the shelf

Outstanding, thanks for the response. What are the costs per bottle?

TREAT should be coming out in the next few weeks. Also Bar Fly is out right now. These 5 beers are $10 - $12 at the brewery. I'm not sure of prices once they hit the PNW, but it is significantly more.

Not too many Alaska traders because of the cost of shipping. No Bourbon County up here last year so that would be some good bait.... I sent a bunch of Bar Fly south in return for moas, hopping frog, rr sours, and extras in larger trades.

I have to add that I've had both the latest release of Berserker and last winters release in the last week, and while Berserker in general is outstanding, I found this latest release was a cut above. Can't really point to any one thing specifically, it was just on point.

And I second @unclekeith, seek out BarFly. One of my personal favorites that flies under the radar is Brewtality.

Brewtality does interest me too. How smokey is Barfly? I tried to get through a bottle of Surly Smoke recently and couldn't even bring myself to finish the first glass before the sink got a pour also.

There's been some variation in the Brewtality batches, but when it's on, it is fantastic! With ms it's tough to know the batch by just looking at the bottle. 4000 was brewed in the spring and I would guess a mid winter release - not sure on the style. Also heard rumblings about Big Slick, Gluttony, and Sloth making returns. Sloth hasn't been brewed in about 5 years but both batches have been incredible at trappings around town in the last year.

IMO the smoke mellows the bourbon in Barfly in a good way. It does not overwhelm. It's a nice compliment. It is a big beer with an ABV higher than what is in the label, best for sharing.

@unclekeith or @itracy63 interested in a trade? I realize shipping costs are a little high but I'd be willing to make it worth your while. BM if your up for it.

    Cheers

BM me a label and I'll send you an Arctic Devil. Or depending on where you're at in IL, maybe we could meet for a beer and I can just hand it off.

AD used to be released in november, one year it was released late into the following year and pushed back the schedule into the folloing year, so i think there is a vintage missing. i believe its 12

Variation comes from different head brewers. the last vintage by ben johnson was 2011, and its my favorite vintage. label still has the date in it

    but all AD is delicious
