I'll have to give Steel Toe another try then too. I didn't think it was that good either when I've had it in the past but it's been several years now.

@ZAP Have you had Hoops' Hefe (#5050)? I always look forward to that when I get up to Duluth.

I have..I like it...Not sure I'd put it in my top tier but I enjoy drinking it when in town....he also does one styled after SchneiderWeisse...I love his focus on German beers and non hazy IPA's there..

Rapids Brewing in Grand Rapids has a rock solid Hefeweizen. I had Hoops 5050 the day before and prefer this to be honest. Hoops Hefe was fine though but I did I came away a bit let down overall with their beer quality...musty like flavors in a lot of them...and I'm the biggest Hoops fanboy out there probably...maybe he's not as involved in the brewing end anymore...not sure...I went in planning on buying close to eight crowlers and after doing an eight flight sampler with them I struggled to come away with three crowlers....first time in about 18 months I've been there..Hoops has always been my #1 place in Duluth since it opened...before that Fitgers was my place...
