"As Mike Saboe was embracing craft beer and homebrewing in the early ’00s, he sought far and wide for inspiration. I wasn’t aware Mike Saboe returned to TG, so learned something new today. Stopped buying TG after a few incidents. Mike’s Departure due to their moving to contract brewing, and the subsequent issue with Chris Flenker’s non compete is covered in this article: https://www.beervanablog.com/beervana/2018/7/31/how-to-screw-your-brewer
Reference the post directly above mine, I’ve never had anything from them so I don’t have a dog in the fight. I get that the non compete clause is silly, but did the fellow that signed it sign it willingly and knowingly? I understand that he may have been pressured to do it or threatened with job loss so it’s not a cut and dry issue, but if he knowingly signed it and violated it he’s not a completely blameless victim here. Just my .02. I’ll duck the incoming vegetables about to be tossed at me
From the above linked article: “They don’t use them anymore," Sprints said of non-compete clauses.” If it is true that brewery owners no longer use non-compete agreements, I view this as good news. Cheers!
