Thoughts on a brewer rating his own beer a 5 on Untappd?

I tried BA OMWM today, and wow, it is sweet. Even by Mikerphone standards, it's sweet. Like Angry Chair level sweet. It's hard to believe it spent 14 months in bourbon barrels, you can barely tell it's barrel aged. I liked it alright, just way sweeter than I was expecting.

I agree with @miniditka77 above it is sweet and not getting alot of Barrel 1 pour is enough, but on another note Teleport Massive is on point as always.

I had the BA OMWM yesterday in the Blue Room. I thought it was really good and actually prefer it to Prop 19. The 450 and Open Bottle collab stouts delivered all promised flavors too.

I liked Prop 19 better, but I might have liked OMWM better if it had just a bit less lactose. It's not that I dislike sweetness (quite the opposite), it's that too much lactose "smooths" everything over a bit too much.

I wish I had tried the 450 collab. I tried the Sweet Disposition instead, and it was not very good. The rum barrel was overpowering.

If the beer was BA One man wm I would agree, if it was the latest batch of Vanillanoize I would vote to impeach.

If you don't mind me asking, what is wrong with the latest batch of Vanillanoize? I was going to run up there and buy a couple of bottles today, but once the snow started, I thought it wasn't worth it. Maybe it's good I didn't go?

Would try a tap pour first imo. Vanilla seemed muted and was overshadowed by all the roast on the beer. Sure didn't remind me of the vanillanoize I had in the past.

I bought 2 before I had a pour and I am hoping a month in the cellar helps.

Vanillanoize (in the past) was my go to example of a beer saved by a barrel in a BA version. The Rye barrel cut the sweetness and made it delicious. I hope that continues with the non Shaun versions...

I always liked Vanillanoize, but I did think it could have been improved with a little bit less lactose. Maybe I'd actually like this version better?

    place was packed today.

ba omwm was still on and honestly it was just alright. super super sweet and syrup thick without much carb. the 6oz pour i got was a chore to finish. ive been told the brewers said this was the best beer they have ever put out. thats really a stretch, mike has done much better.

i really enjoyed just the two of us for what it is but again, sweet. 12oz was enough. vanillanoize was roasty af and i didnt get much vanilla, big let down as I had never had it before. say uhhh was really good and i ended up grabbing a 4-pack.

I was there for a brief stop today about 1:30. When were you there? There was a crazy amount of children there - just an observation so everyone can chill. Just more than I'm used to seeing in a taproom.

Yeah, BA OMWM was crazy sweet. It was like a slightly boozy chocolate milk with a coconut hit. Enjoyable, but 6 oz was plenty for me. Vanillanoize was a total miss to me too. Roasty bomb that just overpowered everything else. Bummer. Was planning to grab Say Uhh going into this weekend, but did way better than expected with P3 and HB acquisition, so passed on it. Too many hops and my wife already thinks I'm crazy.

"crazy" is mild compared to what I've heard from my wife and others' wives.
When 2019 BCBS bottles were available on Peapod for $1.40 each yesterday, I passed while others got 12 or 24. It would have been fun (and cheap) to play with all adjuncts, but if my wife saw the delivery there might have been broken bottles all over.

Regardless of how you feel about the individual Mikerphone beers, you've got to admit that having 18 on draft along with 7 guest taps is pretty great. I've seen other local breweries only have 4-7 on draft at times, and it's just a bummer.
