ok Mathmo, I'll do it for you.

If you receive an average of 9 beers per month that's 108 beers, total membership cost is $864, add approx. $400 for collective shipping and that's $1300.... or $12 a beer.. solid deal, just a big ass commitment.

I am not sure why people get up in arms about prices of things they are never going to buy anyway.. but there you have it.

Gotta love beer to my door though... don't even have to leave the house...

    it's dangerous I know...

Well Mikkeller is a Gypsy brewer who can brew his beers anywhere in the US and who is opening an actual brewery in San Diego this year so this doesn't make lots of sense.

Yeah, but this one photo of him posing by a mash tun has completely fixed his image for me.

Anyone buy into this? What have the releases been like? Anyone know of a place that keeps track of the monthly releases?

Oh my gosh. I want this so bad, but I just can't justify it. Some of their coffee brews are personally some of my favorite beers I've ever had. Likewise, they've made the worst beer I've ever had (it is more due to my palette though). I can't justify spending that much for mystery beers when it could be a 10/10 or a 1/10. Bleh. The temptation to join under the idea that I'll receive some exclusive, ultra-rare, special coffee beans used beer there, but it isn't worth that much. No way.

I'll stick to picking up special beer geek releases when they come out.

-Woops. Original post is fairly old. Still, I stand by what I said. I'm curious what they have released.

Hoping that they will create some club in the US once they get going with Alesmith and the shipping isn't so bad

All that money for such an inconsistent brewery? I guess if people like throwing their money away then this is a good opportunity for that. If this was Cantillon or Drie Fonteinen, I would likely change my opinion. Then again, I hate these beer clubs/memberships. Just another avenue for greed.

I paid for the first shipment and immediately cancelled. There wasn't a single great bottle in the bunch. A bunch of odd experiments and shelf beers. Not even worth the ticket price, much less the shipping to the US.
