I'll be traveling to Reykjavik later this fall and was wondering what the deal is with the Mikkeller and friends that recently opened there. Is it a permanent space with a number of Mikkeller brews on tap as well as guest beers? Safe to assume it will be as expensive as most every Mikkeller thing out there?
Yup, permanent space with 20 beers on tap, usually about half being Mikkeller and half being some guest brews... and I think there's a bottle list as well. It will certainly be expensive relative to what you pay in Illinois, not because Mikkeller is necessarily expensive, but because alcohol in Iceland (and all of the Nordic countries really) is expensive from taxes. As in, expect to pay something like 1000 ISK ($7.50 USD) for a 20cl (7oz) pour of a Three Floyd's IPA.
Gotcha. Glad to hear it's a permanent spot (and right around the corner from where we're staying, which is great news for me). Really looking forward to getting a chance to sample some new stuff.
It's a permanent 20 tap bar. All the info above correct. Im a native in RVK so if you want any info you can shoot me a pm. Im also always down for trades if tjats your thing.
