So Mikkel is opening up a brewery in the old Alemith facility. We're gonna get Mikkeller beer in San Diego and I feel like not enough people are excited about it hahaha I was just wondering what everyones take is on Mikkel having his own brewery AND having it in the US instead of Europe.

Excited. I like their unconventional approach.

Meh - but I'm a San Diegan and was pretty much a regular at that Alesmith facility for years and years and years.

Because he's partnering up with Alesmith's owner on this, and has one of Alesmith's most experienced brewers working on the equipment with him, I think he has a pretty good chance of making decent beers. The few I've tried so far (a pale ale and an IPA) didn't excite me much, but I really didn't expect them to given the style.

I think a lot of people are skeptical of price point, but that's probably a trivial issue.

We also haven't really been discussing it lately because the tasting room has had about 4 dates already it was suppose to open. The 5th one, being March, I am really hoping is true but again...Mikkeller, he kinda does what he wants on his own schedule.

Hoping Bill can straighten out Mikkel's beers, because they're awful 80% of the time.

I think you're being a little generous with that percentage.

I've been to the Mikkeller bar SF several times, not once have I ordered a Mikkeller beer.

The level of excitement is appropriate for Mikkeller.

I'd think San Diego would have the least amount love of Mikkeller beers than just about anywhere.

I'm also not big on their beers, but the SF location is great. So, maybe some of that will filter here. :dunno:

I would like to imagine the price being lower, seeing as though it'll be right here in the US, they won't really have to account for such hefty shipping costs. But who knows? Maybe they'll stay where they are

I really enjoy their stouts and I work down the street from the tasting room so I'm hoping for good things......

I'd be more scared of the price.

You say that now, but once it's up, you won't give a damn. It's only beer money.....

That's precisely why he opened it there.

    Plus Peter's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I went as well. Had the saison, DIPA, and the White Stout (which is not white). Wasn't impressed with any of them. A buddy of mine who's enamored with them complained that I should have got the beer geek stouts. But I've had them already and they sit on the shelves around here anyways. Why bother?

I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish here. Hopefully they are just getting started.

How are the prices? Say for a 4 ounce taster and a full pour?

Tasters were $1-2, pints were $5-7 last time I was there. So, pretty standard.
