there's currently a line right now for the public sale in two hours, i doubt it makes it to the webshop

Mikkeller SD said on Instagram that they anticipate it selling out within an hour once they open. Definitely not hitting the web shop. Was debating driving down there early this morning from Anaheim with a buddy, but passed on it. Two hours each way, and my beer budget's already out of control this month as it is... yeah, no.

wow. i really feel bad for the suckers who sat in line for 12 hours to get this shit that isn't even sold out yet.
when i say I feel bad i mean I feel great! hopefully craft beer is chilling out. not every release can be Vanilla Rye...

Did they reduce the allocation for members of cans to 2?

No, there was a glitch the morning the cans went on sale at the web shop that had it set as 2, but members were still able to purchase 4 once that was cleared up roughly 20-30minutes later.

Considering bottles were still available well in to Sunday afternoon - and the bourbon barrel Shake may still be - I'm not totally getting the 'perks' from membership. Yes it was nice to be able to grab them with zero fuss whatsoever on Friday with a bit of a discount, but I could've grabbed them with zero fuss late Saturday and/or Sunday, too. Granted, you never can be sure with releases how long they'll last, and many of the weekly canned releases DO sell out in a day, but still...

On another note, we find out this week what the new membership year's first bottles will be. Haven't a clue since nothing has been mentioned or hinted about.

The discount is nice, even on cans and bottles though. Maxing out on friday saved me $27....so basically I got the 3 of the 4 vanilla shake cans free.

True. For me a lot of it will depend on what the Viking exclusive bottles end up being. As of now, if I could do it again, I would've just done the cheaper of the two memberships. Still 10 months left to go, though.

Ah gotcha, yeah I did the first level since I don't need more growlers nor glassware, and probably not any more beer shirts. Some friends that are beserkers did bring up a point last friday that they had wished they could have gotten double allocations compared to level 1 members. I did agree with that since you guys are paying almost double, but then of course this is just a special release and not really viking only, so there is that.

I'm not even all that enthused about the growlers now. I was, because I was assuming they'd be the same as League/MT and be 32oz. But they'll be 64oz and they've been refusing 32oz fills on their "special" offerings... which seem to be the weekly release IPAs about a month after they were initially put on as a way to clear aging stock :slight_frown:

That rum BA shake is fantastic. The bourbon was good too, but that rum. Hot damn.

I liked the discount and being able to make sure I got bottles, especially since I was leaving town Friday night.

what were the limits on bottles for Viking members?

2 of each BA bottle. 1 Trip on Wood. 4 Vanilla Shake cans. No point in those limits when they last well in to public sale hours the day after the release, though. IMO. Whatever. I still do like Friday pickups.

First round on this stuff so maybe they take the feedback and increase member limits next time. 3 is great with option to double dip on a public sale. I don't see any reason not to allow members to double-dip on public - that alone would have been nice.

I was in SD on biz today and only a mile away from Mikkeller so I decided to check it out. Really nice space, great feel, nice knowledgeable staff and lots of cans and bottles in the cooler. I've never had any Mikkeller beers before so I just grabbed a four pack of Windy Hill which from my small taster was well worth the $13pp. Looks like they are releasing a couple more hazy DIPA cans tomorrow.

    Cheers,
