Does Windy Hill use different hops depending on the batch? Mikkeller website says Mosaic and Simcoe but cans I bought today have Columbus and Chinook stamped on the bottom. Pretty good beer for the price. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and it has a sweetness that I could do without but otherwise easy drinking.

Every batch has a different hop profile. The best one was the Nelson and Mosaic lupulin powder.

Wow, had no idea. I loved whatever the first batch was. I need to pay more attention.

The new batch, which is really really good, is hopped with Chinook and Columbus.

    Cheers,

Looks like beer mail was sent out...anyone get theres yet and can report what was included? Mikk F'd up even though I told them quite a few times my address was incorrect and they did nothing to fix it. These can's better be fire otherwise they've already lost a customer.

Did Mikk really include 2 cans of month old Windy Hill in their beer mail package? I can't believe they would actually do that.

I assumed stuff like that would make up the contents of these boxes, as it just seemed (to me) a way to easily unload aging inventory. They treat Viking growler fill privileges the same way; 64oz fills only, and "limited" to month plus old IPAs. It's disheartening.

Anyone had the wet hop NE IPA yet?

Maybe. I'll believe it's a gamechanger if/when it actually becomes one. Super disappointed in the growler fill "perks" that've been offered to Vikings. I haven't found a benefit to their regularly available fills vs. what the can cost has been.

And it has now become a game changer. I was frustrated with the Viking membership for a while but it seems to be coming around. Growing pains, I guess.

More twists and turns in the always turbulent Viking club...

    Howdy y'all!

Thank you so much for your patience with us during this past week. We have been experiencing a few changes and restructuring a few things to hopefully make the Mikkeller Viking Club even greater.

We've received a ton of inquiry regarding the Mikkeller SD Viking Club Facebook Group. We are currently working on a new official one, you will all get invited to join through email.

We understand there's been some miscommunication with beer releases and wanted to take a moment to apologize and clear the air, hopefully making things right for our loyal Vikings. In our most recent e-mail blast, we mentioned that both our Cloudwater collaboration IPA and Cigar City collaboration stouts would be released on 9/16. However, since the beer tells us when it's ready, we have pushed these beers (a week and should be ready for next weekend’s release).

Had Mr. Cloudy last night and it was okay, but Easy Ryeder is great. Very clean and lots of pine.

Since this was bumped, can releases have been cut back to twice monthly instead of weekly now. Their goal was to have 52 can releases in 2017 and they exceeded that quite a bit.

There was also a private barrel tasting for about 20-30 viking members, sadly I was unable to go due to other obligations, and from what I hear they were rather delicious.

Here is a photo that was posted to the viking group just so that someone could mock an employee for a typo:

Just had a can of each: Windmill Hill and Marathon Man ne tipa. Actually liked Windmill a lot, despite being afraid of that Belgian yeast. To me though, it was quite subtle, and somehow completed the smell and the taste, pushing it further beyond the typical neipa, if that makes sense. Idk but that's what I thought. Marathon Man was interesting too. The first 2/3 of it were phenomenal (for my taste): bitter, yet very juicy, full bodied, great smelling, and amazing on the palate; couldn't taste any alcohol either. As it warmed up though, the alcohol started kicking in, quite a lot, I would say, definitely reminding you how big of a beer it is. Overall both were pretty good finds. Wonder what others thought of these.

This Windy Hill, hopped with Amarillo and Citra, that I'm drinking right now is fantastic.
