    Hey All,

I just so happened to get my hands on a Southern Tier Creme Brulee some months ago. This instantly claimed a spot in my top 5 all time. Im not sure if it was just the style or that brew in particular, but I was wondering if there were any milk stouts that you all would recommend. Sometime in the near future I want to try cloning the creme brulee but then also spinning it into a tiramisu perhaps. Thoughts?

cant go wrong with left hand milk stout, and left hand milk stout nitro...sam adams makes a pretty good cream stout that is similar...but none of these are goign to be as clouying as the creme brulee. it is one of the sweetest beers that i have ever had.

Left hand is good. You might be able to trade for some Three Floyds Moloko still.

Yeah, Left Hand Milk stout and the Nitro version are excellent. I've been enjoying Schnickelfritz from Saucony Creek the past couple of days, which is a milk stout with chocolate and cherries. Pretty tasty. Can't speak to the Creme Brulee from ST, although I have heard it's cloyingly sweet and you either love it or hate it.
    Good luck on your clone.

Like everyone else said both of Left Hand's Milk Stouts are excellent. The reggie, and the Nitro. ST's 2X is also really good. If you get it in your area No Label's Elda M Milk Stout is also worth a try.

@ Creme. Ive also heard its really hit or miss. I liked it, alot, good quality beer. BUT it was WAY too sweet, Id like to try another one with about a yr or so of aging on its belt, though. That would mellow it out I think.

I like 'em sweet, but Cream Brulee was a little too cloying for me. My top two are Terrapin Moo Hoo and Bell's Special Double Cream.

Farson's is the classic example. honest.

get some next time your in Malta. we're not known for beer in Malta, but Farson's Milk Stout is a genuine classic. if you ever should see it in the States, consider it rare.

    Cheers.

The ratings say otherwise, including mine.

I don't know that one can use ratings as the basis to decide whether a beer is a classic or not. Pilsner Urquell is the classic pilsner, and Schultheiss Berliner Weisse was the classic BW, but they aren't rated very high.

And then there is the case of the classic adjunct lager, AB's Budweiser...

Last night, I had thee pints of cask conditioned Carton of Milk (by Carton in South Jersey). I don't know if it's truly a milk stout, but it was great.

Like most here, Left Hand is one of my favs, but heavy in my rotation are Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat and Brau Brothers Moo Joos. Great tasting beers.

I have not tried the Southern Tier Creme Brulee, I will have to give it a shot.
