I am a Twin Cities native with a very pregnant wife who will be heading back from Milwaukee on Black Friday. I can probably hang around the Milwaukee area for Friday morning, but have to get on the road after noon or so. What are the best options for Bourbon County/any other Black Friday releases? I know I should make the short trip down to the Chicago area and try to get some good variants, but as I mentioned before, I don't think I have the liberties for that anymore in my wife's current state. Ray's in Wauwatosa is my first thought, but are there any other spots in Milwaukee, or anywhere near Madison or through the rest of Wisconsin near I-94 that I might get lucky later in the day?

Ray's, Discount Liquors, Consumer Beverage, Aman's in Wind Lake, Woodman's and Sendik's are some options. Lakefront Brewing has a release/line bottle share that morning.

Great for taking the kids, so they can say they went to a castle. Otherwise, too expensive. If you're in that area, the Kenosha Woodman's has better prices and WAY better selection. Be forewarned that Woodman's doesn't take credit cards. Only cash, check, or debit card.

I recommend Lakefront given your specific time constraints. You may drive all over town all morning standing in line after line and striking out on BCBS at one place after another, but if you are in line reasonably early you will definitely score at Lakefront's release. And Black Friday is a fantastic BA stout well worth the hassle IMO.

Don't know if they'll have any Black Friday releases, but Total Wine and More, in Brookfield has really good prices and selections.

In the same area, Raised Grain Brewing makes some awesome beers! Bring a growler. Or three. And their pizzas are really good.

I could be mistaken, but I think many of the bigger stores do their BCBS release on Saturday now. I'm pretty sure Ray's and both Discount locations have their own events, which aren't on Black Friday.

Regardless, my vote would be for Lakefront. Their BA black friday stout is fantastic. Plus I'd rather fund a small local brewery than AB.

Festival Foods normally gets Bourbon County although that would be about it. There are several of those not far off I-94 around Eau Claire. You might want to watch the websites of places you are thinking of and maybe make some phone calls to check availability and times.

Please note that the mars cheese castle comment was with as much sarcasm as I could possibly muster through text. I thought that was a given but apparently not. Stay away.

Thanks guys, this helps alot, my goal is to have a shot at some variants at at least one location, I can't exactly get up at the crack of dawn, but hopefully an hour or two before most places open at 9 I'm assuming

Sorry, the sarcasm didn't come thru. No problems. If anything, I'm glad I don't have to educate another Illinoisan to avoid that Roadside Ripoff.

Not cool to recommend Mars Cheese Castle to him, that recommendation should be reserved for Fibs only.

Edit: whoops just noticed you’re from Illinois, heard they drastically cut their prices just recently fyi

Bought king sue one time at the Mars cheese castle before they knew it was harder to get and jacked up the price from $12 to $27.

Just be cautious, I am almost positive that Woodmans Kenosha starts selling BCS around 1 on Friday.
