Folks, I'm getting married in Milwaukee in a few weeks, and looking for a bar recommendation. The future better-half and I live in Chicago, and oddly, aren't terribly familiar w/ Milwaukee (how we ended up getting married there...luck?).

Wedding is at Pabst Best Place, w/ rehearsal dinner Friday eve at Jackson's at the Brewhouse hotel. Most guests are staying there, or at the Hilton City Center.

Anyway, we are looking for a good bar for a 'meet and greet' spot for Friday night, after rehearsal dinner. We want to make it easy for folks to get to us, which likely rules out Sugar Maple, other spots in Bayview. Would love to hear your recommendations. We have a fairly strong craft beer contingent among our guests, and would prefer to cater to them rather than end up someplace like Bar Louie.

Also, it will be Halloween, so if there are any awesome Halloween events in Milwaukee, we'd be interested in hearing about those as well.

    Thanks!

It's gotta be Rumpus Room then. It's close by and more upscale to fit in with your occasion.

Seconded on Rumpus, which...is right next to Bar Louie. Inquire about their events room if you have a large party.

That being said, Water St. might be a shitshow depending on the night, especially with Halloween.

Yeah- Rumpus Room for sure. It's a bit pricier (+$1-2) but will have the best tap list in the downtown area (the best in Milwaukee, sometimes). Uber Tap on Old World 3rd St. is great too, but now sure how late they stay open. They also mix great drinks, and the bar food is delicious.

They get really busy between 4-8pm on Friday nights, especially if there is a show at the theatres across the street. I'd give them a call and a head's up. They do have a private room off to the side, but I don't know how much it rents for.

If you end up on Brady Street, there is a World of Beer (ugh) which probably has the "largest" selection, but Roman Coin is a lot of fun, too- but about 1/10th the # of taps.

Awesome, thanks all for the responses so far! Sounds like there are a few good options to pursue.
