I will be out in Milwaukee for the first time in a couple weeks. From doing a BA search, some of the spots to hit up seem to be Roman`s, Sugar Maple, Palm Tavern, Von Trier and The Bomb Shelter. Any comments on those and further suggestions for bars, restaurants and stores would be much appreciated. Cheers !
I live in Buffalo but love Milwaukee...you have to take a tour of Lakefront Brewery...must must must. I always hit up Milwaukee Ale House too...their beers are hit or miss but their hits are usualy really good. Haufbrau too.
Thank you for the suggestions listed. Sorry about inadvertently posting here instead of the Great Lakes forum. Hopefully after my trip, my geographic IQ will continue to improve. Cheers !
I moved from milwaukee a year ago. My favorites were: Cafe Centraal in Bayview (Part of the Hollander) group for belgian, hinterland and landmark 1850 for german, or Discount liquor on west oklahoma is a decent bottle shop.
Anyone ever heard of Benno's in West Allis? Went there last weekend just to try the fish fry and was surprised by their pretty damn fine tap list!
I second and third Discount. I walked in thinking of picking up a bottle or two, and walked out with a cart of beer, and $200 less in my wallet.
Never been here, but Burnhearts had quite an event on Wednesday night: From Central Waters facebook page: Burnhearts, starts tonight at 7. Here is the draft list... Hopsessional Belgian Blonde Bourbon Barleywine 1414 (yes, so far the only tapping of this outside the brewery) And a yet to be named stout we brewed for our 16 year anniversary party (two years from now) in a firkin, primed with molasses. Wow.
Hmmm, a fish fry near Lake Michigan, that sounds good. These suggestions are very helpful. I`m looking forward to visiting Wisconsin for the first time. And it seems that some nice craft beer awaits me.
