Do you think a 25' counterflow chiller coupled with a 25' prechiller and fairly cold well water will be enough for 10 gallon gravity keggle batches?

Edit: Didn't see other thread on chillers, but what do you use for 10 gal batches? Particularly interested in anyone with a counter-flow chiller.

Yes it should. I haven't seen much of a benefit from having an inline prechiller hooked up though.

I used to use a Shirron plate chiller +/- a 25' immersion chiller as a prechiller, but my current chilling set up is based off the mr. malty setup...

I have my kettle (15 gallon keggle or 26 gallon PolarWare depending on batch size) out port wide open and hooked to a march pump which then connects to the middle (L pipe piece) of a 50' immersion chiller to generate a whirlpool/recirculation. I whirlpool for 15 minutes after flameout, then turn on my aquarium pump that sits in a bucket of cold water and pumps water to the immersion chiller. The hot outflow water goes to a bucket of oxyclean powder that I can use for clean in place later, until the water temp hits about 90, after which I add ice to my aquarium pump bucket and chill down to pitching temps. If I use ice water from the start I can chill 10 gallons to pitching temp in about 10-15 minutes.

sure - when you monitor the temperature of the cooled wort, you can slow it down if it is too hot if you have a valve somewhere in-line. When I gravity fed through a homemade cfc, that is what I did. No pre-chiller necessary if you have cold well water and time is not an issue. I handled 30+ gallon batches with this setup, but the size of the batch is irrelevant unless time is an issue.
