I am sitting here at the bar at Charlotte airport having a couple hop drop and rolls. I am flying into MSP tonight for a conference tomorrow. After the conference I have the evening after 4 pm to do what I want. I am staying near university of MN. What are your recommendations for a short time for beer stores and a place to have a few?
Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery, Repulic 7 Corners, Stub and Herbs. That should handle bars. Zipp's is pretty close to campus for a shop.
I will echo Town Hall. They are taping a few tonight (3 hour tour and two other stouts) that may be around tomorrow, especially with this snow.
Third-ed on Town Hall. Most of the breweries around these parts are closed Mondays and Tuesdays and the combo SNReject has listed is your best stop for all things Minnesota available within a block, especially since it's a hop, skip, and a jump from the U... or maybe more like a light rail stop but either way it's close.
Cross into Hudson and go to Casanova's to pic up some New Glarus and Toppling Goliath brews to take home!
Hmmm, I wonder if you were on my flight last night? Were you on the flight that was only 30 minutes late or the one that was almost 4 hours late? Regardless, I echo the suggestions above. Stub and Herbs is probably going to be the closest to you and is pretty awesome. If you're willing to travel a little bit further, Town Hall and Republic 7C are across the street from each other and are both pretty awesome. Plus you can add on Day Block or Acadia if willing to walk a little bit. Both are interesting for their own reasons (and not as interesting as Town Hall/Republic 7C).
