What others have said. Skip bald man brewing. Beers aren't bad, they are just not good/excellent. Nothing off putting, all their beers just taste "Minnesota Nice". A lot of better options have already been posted.

I forgot about Modist and Dayblock. Oliphant, if you can find their wares, has a lot of offerings I really enjoy. I'm unsure if they're in crowlers, but Gobias is a nice coffee ale, and Skullship Muertes is an IPA with galaxy and mosaic hops, so good.

If you wanted to just go to a store, I remember South Lyndale having Modist crowlers in stock last time I was there.

I realize how "lucky" we are in Iowa to a degree. Problem with having a Kum & Go selling growlers of beer is that the beer lines don't seem to get the same care. I can buy Todd the Axeman within 5 mins of my house, but I wouldn't after one bad experience. Hy-Vee generally does well though.

Cans and Bottles are great. I've been to Minneapolis and had most of your distributed beers, I was going crowler mainly so I could grab a bunch and not have to pound growlers quickly! As for that Peanut Butter Porter-that my friend is exactly what I am after, I love that kinda stuff! Thanks.

Quick update before I stop posting in this thread. Dangerous Man has a new Sour Delores out now.

"What is sweet AND tart? Our newest Sour Delores! This Sweet Cherry Sour clocks in at 5.9% ABV, 6 IBU, and 100% tasty. Come grab it in a tulip, a pint, a crowler, or a growler!"

Don't know if this helps, it is a work in progress...I've only been to Surly so I can't vouch for anything on the map below...this link will open up a map that I made with Google Maps. Your not downloading anything from my Google Drive to your computer.

It does have the Total Wine's on them and a few other bike trails in the area.

It is as accurate as possible, might be a mistake on it. I am planning a trip sometime in 2017 to visit Minneapolis.

The stuff in blue=bike trails. They have a whole bunch more than what I have on the map. I think you can turn parts of the map on and off on the left hand side.

Also, if your going up 35 to get to Minneapolis, you'll go right by F-Town Brewing which is in Faribault. Never been there, but plan on going...a nice state park is down the road from it.

When I had their porter, I thought the recipe was off not their brewing process. Nice big tap room and shinny JVNW equipment.

Bald Man is the closest and if time is an issue, it might be a good choice (and hit Angry inch in Lakeville on the way home).

Wild Mind posted today that they got more growlers, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own.

    Update!

First off, thanks so much for all your help, your responses saved me some serious time!

I was able to sneak over to Dangerous Man and grab a few crowlers! So far I have only had the PB Porter, but damn that is good. I love it. Thanks again. I only stopped in the shop part next door, not the main brewery. Made life easy for me.

I then stopped at Sisyphus and grabbed a few more crowlers (haven't sampled them yet). Great taproom looked like a lot of fun going down in there. Anxious to try these.

Those are the only two breweries that I had time to stop at, but I appreciated all of your guys help, I got all this done in about 45 minutes from start to finish and I think I got a good sample of local beer.

Having said that, I did meet my brother for a few beers at Bald Man-once again you guys were spot on about this place. Great taproom, great vibe (band playing), beer is mediocre at best. The location has potential, beer needs some work.

Thanks again, if you ever need any Des Moines suggestions, I owe you one, reach out.
