    Hi yall,

I am wondering if you know of any good MN scotch ales. They are a favorite style of mine, but I would love to have access to a high quality and local offering. Wee heavy/scotch ale seems to be a relatively unrepresented style, but they seem to be growing in popularity. With that in mind, does anybody have any recommendations?

P.S. Although I would prefer MN only, I would be more than happy to try midwest offerings as well. (I've had both "bastard" beers from Founders).

Steel Toe's Wee Heavy was a GABF Gold Medal winner, still some bottles floating around the cities I believe

Steel toe seems like a clear winner so far. I'll have to give it a try next time that I am down in the cities.

Hammerheart's Flaming Longship is pretty good. The BA Imperial Longship is absolutely amazing. Should be coming out again before too long here. I was told it was in barrels quite a while ago.

BA Cauld Weather by Bad Weather was the biggest surprise of Rare Beer Fest for me. I would have to do a side-by-side with Steel Toe BA Wee Heavy to decide what I prefer. They are both limited draft only releases, but the regular versions of both are also fantastic.

Sisyphus has had a wee heavy a few times now I believe, including a BA version.

Love Scotch ales... McEwans was a gateway beer for me.
Town Halls recent ET Wee was fantastic. Hope and King is decent.
Also named earlier in the thread:
    BA Flaming Longship
    Bad Weather BA Cauld Weather
Steel Toe Wee Heavy (wish they would bottle the BA version)
Tallander is more of a Scottish ale than a scotch ale

Northgate Fiddle Smasher... I haven't had it, but they do UK-styles very, very well. Their web site still lists it for their taproom. Bottles don't seem to be around anymore.

Town Hall Hope and King is the best Minnesota made Scotch ale I've tasted.

Omnipotent. I've had it at their brewery. It's decent - one of their better offerings, but not great. Wouldn't swear by it, but might say 'gosh darn'.
