I have been meaning check out sours and was wondering do we have anything good made in Minnesota or at least that we can get locally?

I recently saw that Indeed started their sour program, which I am excited about. I also have had Schell's Star of the North and Framboise and Lucid Goslar, which I thought were ok. I believe Bent Paddle (or whatever they are now) does or is doing some and I thought there was another brewery in the Twin Cities. I also have had New Glarus Serendipity, which I really like but fear it is like the training wheels of sour beers.

Harriet usually has a sour on tap.

Go pick up rodenbachs grand cru or cuvee de jacobins. Both really good sours and fairly inexpensive

Bent Brewstillery, not Bent Paddle. Please don't start another lawsuit :astonished:

Surly has misanthrope and pentagram on occasionally at their taproom. Pentagram will be bottled in May sometime. I wish they'd bottle misanthrope...

Brau Brothers Bancreagie Sour Peated Ale. IMHO blows Pentagram out of the water.

New Glarus Serendipity is not a sour ale. An awesome fruit beer, but not a sour beer.

New Glarus lists Serendipity as a fruited sour ale.

I have shied away from the Bancreagie Sour Peated Ale due to the peated, it doesn't sound like something I would like.

Definiteyly give Rodenbach and Cuvee Jacobin a try, also would through Lindemans Cuvee Renee and Liefmans Cuvee Brut or Goudenband (sp?) in that group. As for beer made in MN, Pentagram is great. Brau Bros Bancreagie Peated Sour is awesome although there is a lot going on, but it's fantastic.

Well it does not taste like it has wild fermentation to me. I thought of it more in the line of Wisconsin Belgium Red and Raspberry Tart.

Do not fear the peat. Not very smoky or earthy. Think Monk's Café or Rodenbach.

We are really lacking sours in the state since a lot of the good US sour brewers aren't distributed here. As such, I think if a local brewer got good at it, they would clean house given the lack of supply.

I hear Central Waters makes a great sour in Peruvian Morning, as does Great River with their Redband. They're so popular though, you might have a hard time finding them on the shelf.

    I'll see myself out.

Now I know why I saw a 4 pack of redband for $3

Couldn't agree more. Sociable has put out a few sours seems feels like a natural progression for them to do sours as well!

There is still some Love Child #3 on shelves, mainly due to the fact it's around $18.
Though that doesn't change the fact that it's amazing.

Where have you seen Love Child #3? I really enjoyed this beer despite the price tag on it. I haven't been able to find it since it first came out.

Has anyone tried any of the Cisco sours? I have heard some good things about there beers but haven't dabbled into them much.

Premier in Osseo still had some last time I was there. I would call ahead.

I'm also intrigued by the Cisco sours, but the price tag has outweighed my curiosity thus far...

I've tried a few of the Cisco sours, I really enjoy Lady of the Woods and typically have a bottle in my fridge at all times.
